About the Position

Location: Germany / Hybrid

Employment type: Full-time or part-time, depending on profile

Seniority: Junior–mid

Function: TT&C, RF Communications, Ground Segment, Mission Operations

Project-S is looking for a Satellite TT&C and Ground Segment Engineer to own telemetry, tracking and command communications, radio integration, antenna interfaces, link budgets, ground-station interfaces, data-downlink planning, end-to-end communication testing, and operations support.

This role keeps the mission reachable, understandable, and recoverable.

Responsibilities

  • Select or integrate spacecraft radios, modems, RF front-end elements, antennas, RF switches, coax paths, and ground-station interfaces.
  • Create uplink and downlink link budgets with assumptions, margins, and sensitivity cases.
  • Define beacon, telemetry, command, ranging where applicable, and payload-data downlink strategy.
  • Estimate data rate, contact duration, command latency, daily data return, onboard storage, pass scheduling, and ground-station requirements.
  • Work with payload, flight software, EPS/avionics, systems engineering, and operations teams.
  • Support frequency coordination, licensing inputs, RF emission documentation, compatibility testing, LEOP, commissioning, and anomaly response.

Requirements

  • Background in electrical engineering, telecommunications, RF engineering, aerospace engineering, communications engineering, or similar.
  • Ability to build satellite RF link budgets including EIRP, antenna gain, free-space path loss, pointing loss, atmospheric loss, system noise temperature, G/T, Eb/N0, SNR, coding gain, and link margin.
  • Understanding of TT&C functions: uplink commands, downlink telemetry, tracking, ranging, beaconing, safe-mode communications, command authorization, and telemetry delivery.
  • Familiarity with radios, modems, PA, LNA, filters, SDRs, antennas, RF connectors, coax, and ground-station receiver chains.
  • Experience with SDR tools, GNU Radio, Python/MATLAB, spectrum analyzers, signal generators, RF power meters, antennas, or RF test setups.

We Offer

  • Opportunity to work in a dynamic and innovative environment.
  • Be part of a team that is pushing the boundaries of space technology.
  • Competitive salary and benefits package.
