Job description

About the Position

We are currently looking for a Security & Compliance Officer to join the team in Delft.

Security, compliance, and quality are essential to everything we do. As S[&]T continues to grow within the Space, Defence and High-Tech sectors, we are looking for a Security & Compliance Officer to help build and continuously improve the framework that keeps our organisation secure, compliant, and ready for the future.

In this role, you will take ownership of our integrated Management System, bringing together information security, quality, risk management, and compliance. You will work directly with senior management and across the organisation, ensuring that security and compliance requirements are not simply documented, but embedded into the way we work.

You will coordinate compliance with standards and regulations including ISO 27001, ISO 9001, GDPR, NIS2, and defence-specific security requirements, while supporting customer and certification audits.

This is a role with significant responsibility and visibility. You will have the opportunity to shape processes, raise security awareness, and influence how a growing international technology organisation manages risk and compliance.

Responsibilities

As Security & Compliance Officer, you will:

  • Own and continuously improve the company's integrated Management System.
  • Coordinate compliance with ISO 27001, ISO 9001, GDPR, NIS2 and relevant customer and defence requirements.
  • Coordinate internal, external, customer, and supplier audits and certification activities.
  • Maintain and coordinate the organisation's risk, incident, and non-conformance registers.
  • Identify, assess, and escalate significant security, quality, and compliance risks.
  • Support business units with security and compliance requirements during proposals, contracts, and project execution.
  • Facilitate Management Reviews and provide clear reporting to senior management.
  • Develop and maintain policies, procedures, and quality documentation.
  • Drive security and compliance awareness across the organisation.
  • Support continuous improvement and work with process owners to strengthen controls and ways of working.
  • Coordinate activities around business continuity, incident management, and supplier security.
  • Help translate changing regulations and customer requirements into practical actions for the business.

You will work closely with IT, HR, PMO, Operations, and business leadership, acting as the connecting point between regulatory requirements and the practical needs of the organisation.

Requirements

We are looking for someone who combines strong security and compliance knowledge with a pragmatic, business-oriented approach.

You bring:

  • A Bachelor's or Master's degree in Information Security, Cyber Security, IT, Engineering, Business Administration or a related field.
  • 5+ years of relevant experience in information security, quality management, compliance, or a combination of these areas.
  • Proven experience maintaining or working with ISO 27001 and/or ISO 9001 management systems.
  • Experience coordinating audits, risk management, and compliance activities.
  • Strong knowledge of information security governance, risk management, and internal auditing.
  • Knowledge of GDPR, NIS2, business continuity, and incident management.
  • Experience with government or Defence customers is highly desirable.
  • Knowledge of AQAP standards, Dutch Defence security requirements (ABDO/ABRO) or similar defence frameworks is a strong advantage.
  • Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills.
  • The ability to influence and create awareness without relying on formal authority.
  • A structured, analytical, and pragmatic approach to complex requirements.

Essential requirements

  • Fluent Dutch and English, both written and spoken.
  • Nationality of a NATO member country, with the ability to obtain the required NATO security clearance.

We Offer

  • A key role in a growing Space, Defence, and High-Tech organisation.
  • Direct exposure to and collaboration with senior management.
  • The opportunity to shape and professionalise the company's security, quality, and compliance framework.
  • A broad role covering information security, quality, risk, and compliance rather than a single specialist area.
  • The opportunity to work on projects involving highly regulated customers and technically advanced products.
  • Significant autonomy and the ability to make a visible impact across the organisation.
  • A collaborative and international working environment.
  • Opportunities for continued professional development in security, compliance, and quality management.

About the Company

At S[&]T, we contribute to a safer life on earth by translating space data into valuable and actionable insights. We oversee data from instruments to application, and apply our expertise within our software frameworks, information products, and consultancy.

Our society relies on space and scientific instruments for climate change monitoring, navigation, defence, and national security, and other crucial services we all use in our daily lives. These instruments produce an enormous quantity of complex data, and our goal is to unlock its value.

We have more than 20 years of experience working on instrument calibration, the creation of data quality monitoring tools, the development of real-time data processing frameworks, and the development of application-specific algorithms. With this, we help organisations, governments, and industries to strengthen their information position and thereby improve their decision-making. We focus on the following domains: Space & Science, Defence & Security, Environment & Sustainability, and High-Tech Consulting.
