About the Position

Security Assistant (G5)

The OSCE Programme Office in Bishkek (POiB) is seeking a Security Assistant (G5) to focus on the physical safety and security of OSCE officials, personnel, facilities, and assets in Bishkek. This role involves liaising with host country law enforcement agencies and emergency services, supporting front office security functions, and contributing to physical safety and security information management.

Responsibilities

  • Provide technical support in the area of safety and security of POiB premises and mission members.
  • Maintain liaison with host country law enforcement agencies and emergency services.
  • Assist in the preparation and review of physical security surveys and standard operating procedures.
  • Contribute to the planning and implementation of fire prevention and detection programmes.
  • Support the National Security Officer in gathering and processing relevant security information.
  • Coordinate security guards and other physical security measures.
  • Assist in fact-finding related to physical security and safety incidents.

Requirements

  • Completed secondary education, supplemented by specialized training in security management, police, or military.
  • A minimum of five (5) years of working experience in security management, police, military, or security forces, preferably in an international organization.
  • Established knowledge and understanding of the security developments in the host country.
  • Ability to conduct independent research and collect information from a variety of sources.
  • Practical knowledge of X/Ray machines and surveillance equipment operations is desirable.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills in English and local languages (Russian/Kyrgyz).
  • Demonstrated gender awareness and sensitivity.
  • Ability and willingness to work as a member of a team with people of different cultural, religious backgrounds, gender, and diverse political views, while maintaining impartiality and objectivity.
  • Computer literate with practical experience using Microsoft applications.

We Offer

  • Monthly remuneration of 1,132 Euro/month, subject to social security deductions.
  • Participation in the Cigna medical insurance scheme and the OSCE Provident Fund.
  • Appointments are normally made at step 1 of the applicable OSCE salary scale.

*Please note that this post will be proposed for establishment in the context of the 2027 Unified Budget (UB). Consequently, the issuance of a fixed-term appointment beyond 6-months is subject to approval of the post as part of the UB. However, the successful candidate may be issued a short-term appointment that may be converted to a fixed-term appointment following the UB approval.

Please note that for this position the OSCE does not reimburse expenses such as travel in connection with interviews, tests, visas, and relocation.

Please be aware that OSCE appointments are subject to medical clearance.

The mandatory retirement age at the OSCE is 65 years for contracted positions at the general service, professional, and director level. The Organization shall apply an age limit of 62 years at the time of appointment as the incumbent selected is normally expected to carry out the contractual obligation of two years.
