Senior Accountant

About the Position

Neros is a defense technology company dedicated to rebuilding America’s drone industrial base. We design and manufacture high-performance unmanned systems that are tested in combat, iterated at startup speed, and built at massive scale. We are currently seeking a Senior Accountant to join our team in Torrance, California.

Responsibilities

• Month-End Close: Own the month-end close for assigned areas, including journal entries, accruals, reserves, balance sheet reconciliations, and flux analysis.
• AP and AR Cycles: Manage the full cycle for Accounts Payable (AP) and Accounts Receivable (AR), including vendor invoice coding and approvals, customer invoicing, cash application, account reconciliation, and monitoring balances against aging and cash targets.
• Audit Support: Prepare schedules, technical support, and documentation for external audits, and serve as the primary point of contact for auditor requests.
• Process Improvement: Build and document repeatable processes and internal controls in anticipation of SOX compliance, including control narratives, evidence retention, and segregation-of-duties design.
• Automation and Efficiency: Drive process improvement and automation across the close and transactional cycles to reduce manual effort.
• Cross-Functional Collaboration: Partner with FP&A, Operations, and Supply Chain on special projects, systems work, and ad hoc analysis as the business scales.

Requirements

• Experience: 4–8 years of progressive accounting experience, including at least 2 years in public accounting (audit) at a Big 4 firm.
• License: CPA license, or CPA-eligible and actively pursuing certification.
• Education: Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
• Industry Experience: Experience at a high-growth private company or a small-cap/recently public company.
• Technical Skills: Strong working knowledge of US GAAP and demonstrated ownership of month-end close cycles end to end. Hands-on experience with a mid-market or enterprise ERP (NetSuite strongly preferred; Oracle, Sage Intacct, or similar considered) plus advanced Excel skills.
• SOX and Internal Controls: Exposure to SOX and internal controls over financial reporting.
• Communication: Ability to communicate financial information clearly and credibly to executives, cross-functional peers, and external auditors.
• Attention to Detail: High attention to detail paired with sound judgment on materiality, and comfort operating with ambiguity in a fast-changing environment.

Nice to Have

• IPO Readiness: Direct involvement in IPO readiness or an S-1 process.
• Inventory Accounting: Inventory and cost accounting experience in a hardware, manufacturing, or physical-product business.
• ERP Implementation: Experience implementing or migrating an ERP, or standing up automation across close and transactional processes.

We Offer

• Competitive Salary: $133,000 – $186,000 USD.
• Equity: Highly competitive equity grants as part of Neros' total compensation package.
