About the Company

Proxima Fusion is Europe’s fastest-growing fusion company and the continent’s best-funded fusion player. Backed by over €650M, we are developing the hardware and infrastructure needed to deliver the world’s first commercial stellarator fusion power plant. Our work combines stellarator optimization, advanced computation, machine learning, and high-temperature superconducting magnets to unlock higher-performance designs.

Responsibilities

  • Technical Owner: Own the design, delivery, and operation of our agent platform.
  • Platform Architecture: Own the platform architecture, technical delivery, and day-to-day operation.
  • Scalability: Scale the platform from an early product into reliable, governed infrastructure used across the company.
  • Integration: Co-Design the integration layer that connects agents to internal and external systems.
  • Security: Make autonomy safe and governable with permission and approval flows, capability boundaries, audit logging, cost and token controls, and hardening against prompt injection and tool abuse.
  • Observability: Build the evaluation and observability layer for non-deterministic systems.
  • Operation: Operate what you build on Google Cloud with production discipline.

Requirements

Must have

  • 5+ years of software engineering experience, with real depth in Python and distributed backend systems.
  • Experience in architecting, building, and operating production-grade agentic or LLM systems.
  • Hands-on knowledge of the current agent ecosystem: MCP, agent SDKs and CLIs, multi-agent orchestration patterns, sandboxed code execution.
  • Experience running production workloads on Kubernetes and a major cloud (ideally GCP).
  • Strong focus on evaluation and observability as platform features.
  • Serious approach to security as a design constraint.
  • Experience with infrastructure as code (Terraform) and CI/CD.
  • Low-ego, high-clarity communicator who can work directly with expert users and build consensus across teams.

Nice to Have

  • Experience with model gateways and routing.
  • Exposure to scientific or high-performance computing: batch schedulers, HPC clusters, or simulation-heavy environments.
  • Open-source contributions to AI/agent tooling.
  • A track record of technical mentorship.

We Offer

  • Opportunity to work on some of the most complex tech challenges to bring abundant, safe, clean energy to the world.
  • Join and learn from an exceptional selection of accomplished and driven individuals.
  • Do your life’s best work and enjoy the journey.
  • Be part of a mission to make limitless clean energy a reality.
