Senior AI-Native Forward Deployed Engineer

About the Position

EPAM is a leading global provider of digital platform engineering and software development services, with two offices in Switzerland (Zurich, Geneva). We are currently seeking a highly skilled and proactive Senior AI-Native Forward Deployed Engineer to join our team in Luzern, Switzerland, in a hybrid working mode.

In this role, you will partner directly with business stakeholders and engineering teams to design and deliver AI-native solutions while enabling client organizations to integrate AI technologies across software development and operational processes. This role combines product mindset, architecture, and engineering execution, shifting delivery from traditional coding toward AI-driven specifications, agent orchestration, and delivery-as-code approaches.

Responsibilities

• Own business problems from discovery through delivery, converting requirements into AI-driven specifications, workflows, and architectures
• Design and implement solutions using AI-first and agent-based architectures to enable development driven by prompts, context, and orchestration
• Serve as a bridge between business, product, and engineering teams, promoting AI-native practices across the lifecycle
• Build, optimize, and manage the lifecycle of prompts, context pipelines, and instruction sets, including versioning and evaluation processes
• Orchestrate AI agents across SDLC workflows and integrate capabilities into existing tools such as IDEs, CI/CD pipelines, and cloud environments
• Develop reusable patterns and frameworks for AI-enabled delivery
• Ensure quality, reliability, safety, and cost-efficiency of AI-generated outputs with defined validation criteria, reviews, and rework cycles
• Deliver solutions in an embedded forward-deployed model, working closely with clients on-site or virtually
• Coach client teams through AI-driven transformations and mentor engineers to adopt modern AI-first delivery practices

Requirements

• 5+ years of experience in software engineering (e.g., Java or Python) and system design
• Hands-on experience with LLMs, prompt engineering, or AI tools (e.g., Claude, GitHub Copilot)
• Strong background with cloud platforms, modern APIs, and DevOps practices
• Experience with Agile methodologies, especially SAFe
• Product-oriented mindset and experience in customer-facing engagements
• Ability to operate across business, architecture, and technical layers
• Proven experience building AI agents or multi-agent systems
• Familiarity with AI governance, evaluation, and safety frameworks
• Experience in client-facing or forward-deployed roles
• Strong written and verbal communication for technical and non-technical audiences
• Professional fluency in German and English

Nice to Have

• Certifications in AI, Machine Learning, or major cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, GCP)
• Experience in insurance or financial services domains
