Senior AI/MLOps Engineer

About the Position

We're seeking a Senior AI/MLOps Engineer to lead the development and optimization of scalable machine learning infrastructure for a global food tech company.

Location: Bulgaria, Czech Republic, Slovakia, Spain (Employment contract) and Romania (B2B or Employment contract).

As a Senior AI/MLOps Engineer, you will lead the development and optimization of scalable machine learning infrastructure, production-grade ML pipelines, and real-time and batch inference systems. Working closely with Data Science and cross-functional teams, you will ensure ML models are deployed, monitored, and optimized for performance, scalability, and reliability.

This is a hands-on technical leadership role where you will mentor Machine Learning Engineers, drive MLOps best practices, and help shape the future of the company’s ML platform by introducing modern tools, frameworks, and technologies that support long-term business objectives.

Responsibilities

• Lead the design, development, and optimization of scalable ML infrastructure, production-grade ML pipelines, and real-time/batch inference systems.
• Collaborate closely with Data Science and cross-functional teams to deploy, monitor, and optimize machine learning models in production.
• Drive the adoption of best practices in MLOps, ensuring high performance, reliability, scalability, and maintainability of ML systems.
• Provide technical leadership by mentoring Machine Learning Engineers, conducting code reviews, and fostering a culture of continuous learning and engineering excellence.
• Communicate complex ML concepts to both technical and non-technical stakeholders, translating them into actionable business outcomes and influencing strategic decisions.
• Evaluate and integrate new technologies, tools, and frameworks to keep the ML platform aligned with industry best practices and future business needs.

Requirements

• Expert-level proficiency with cloud technologies (ideally AWS) and extensive experience with containerization and orchestration (preferably Kubernetes).
• Deep understanding of software development, DevOps, and MLOps best practices, with a proven track record of applying them in production.
• Extensive experience in designing, deploying, and maintaining scalable models and services in production environments.
• Strong understanding of Machine Learning, with the ability to collaborate deeply with Data Scientists on model deployment and optimization.
• Experience with MLflow for experiment tracking and model management, and Airflow or Dagster for orchestrating end-to-end ML pipelines and workflows.
• Significant experience with Data Engineering, Kafka, and stream processing.
• Proficiency in Python and SQL; or any other programming languages is a strong plus.
• Upper-Intermediate English level

• GenAI / LLM / NLP exposure
• Model explainability / working with regulated environments
• Experience linking ML work to business impact (e.g. A/B testing, KPIs)

• Excellent communication skills, including the ability to present complex data insights and machine learning concepts to a wide range of stakeholders, both technical and non-technical
