The Role

You will help build one of the company’s most ambitious products: an Android-based smart vehicle display and control experience that connects directly to the vehicle. Customers use it to connect, adjust settings such as power delivery, and access additional products and services.

This is a senior, hands-on role with real ownership. You will shape the Android architecture, take features from definition through release and monitoring, and help the wider team deliver an experience that feels as considered and high-performing as the physical product itself.

What You Will Own

• Own the architecture and technical direction of the Android application, balancing quality, performance, and delivery speed.
• Take mobile features end to end, from definition and design through development, release, and production monitoring.
• Diagnose and resolve complex performance, memory, and stability issues, including problems involving multithreading, concurrency, and data caching.
• Translate product and business requirements into polished, user-centred experiences with product managers, designers, and other stakeholders.
• Set and uphold standards for clean, stable, and extensible code across the mobile team.
• Drive good practice in architecture, testing, CI/CD, and developer tooling.
• Use AI-assisted development tools as a normal part of the workflow to improve speed and quality.
• Partner with other engineering teams to design features across the full stack.
• Use A/B testing, feature flags, and experimentation frameworks to validate decisions with data.
• Maintain a transparent backlog and communicate frequently with engineering, product, and creative colleagues.
• Challenge what could be better, share mistakes openly, and act as a role model for continuous improvement.

What You Will Bring

Essential Experience

• 5+ years of Android application development, with a track record of shipping production applications at scale.
• Deep proficiency in Kotlin, Jetpack Compose, and modern Android development practices.
• Strong command of Android architecture patterns such as MVVM, MVI, and Clean Architecture, together with the judgement to evolve them pragmatically.
• A solid understanding of concurrency, coroutines, flows, and performance optimisation.
• Experience diagnosing complex performance, memory, and application-stability issues.
• Broad knowledge of the Android SDK, Jetpack libraries, and relevant third-party APIs.
• A strong testing mindset across unit, integration, and UI testing.
• A data-led approach using experimentation, A/B testing, and feature flags.
• The ability to manage and prioritise several workstreams at once.
• Strong written and spoken English.
