As a Senior Automation Test Engineer, you will make an impact by designing, building, and continuously improving modern test automation solutions that enhance product quality and delivery speed. You will be a valued member of a collaborative engineering team and work closely with developers, QA partners, and business stakeholders to ensure robust, scalable testing across enterprise applications.
Responsibilities
- Design, develop, and maintain automated test frameworks using Playwright and TypeScript to improve test coverage and efficiency.
- Leverage AI-assisted development tools such as GitHub Copilot, Codex, or Claude to enhance automation frameworks and accelerate test development.
- Create and execute simple to medium SQL queries to validate data accuracy and ensure data integrity across systems.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to understand complex enterprise technology stacks and translate requirements into effective automation solutions.
- Analyze test failures, identify root causes, and partner with engineering teams to drive timely resolution.
- Participate in code reviews and contribute to best practices that improve code quality, maintainability, and testability.
- Continuously evaluate and optimize automation tools, processes, and approaches to keep pace with evolving technologies.
Requirements
- 5–7 years of experience in a test automation engineering role using Playwright and TypeScript.
- Hands-on experience using AI-powered developer tools (such as GitHub Copilot, Codex, or Claude) to enhance test automation frameworks or code quality.
- Working knowledge of CI/CD pipelines and tools such as Jenkins, GitHub Actions, or similar platforms.
- Strong understanding of the Software Development Life Cycle (SDLC) and Software Testing Life Cycle (STLC).
- Experience working in Agile development environments.
- Ability to work independently while also collaborating effectively within cross-functional teams.
- Strong communication skills with the ability to explain technical concepts to diverse audiences.
Nice to Have
- Experience automating tests for complex, large-scale enterprise applications.
- Exposure to modern QA strategies, including shift-left testing or test optimization practices.
- A continuous improvement mindset and passion for learning new automation tools and techniques.
We Offer
- Compensation: Annual salary between $53,477 to $92,500 depending on experience and other qualifications.
- Incentives: Eligible for Cognizant’s discretionary annual incentive program, based on performance and subject to the terms of Cognizant’s applicable plans.
