Job Description, Responsibilities & Requirements
About the Position
We are looking for a Senior AWS DevOps Engineer to join our team on a part-time basis. In this role, you will take architectural and execution ownership of a mature cloud ecosystem, focusing entirely on infrastructure modernization, automation, and scaling.
About the Project
You will be working on a mobile-first communication and engagement platform designed for large-scale enterprise workforces (enabling secure real-time messaging, broadcasts, and community features). The system architecture is a highly resilient, multi-tenant cloud ecosystem featuring a fast-evolving Generative AI layer (built on advanced RAG models and vector databases). It processes high-volume transactional data, handles massive media asset delivery, and maintains strict industry compliance standards.
Our Tech Stack
- Cloud: AWS (EC2, ECS/Fargate, Lambda for event-driven workloads and AI agent runtime, VPC, Route 53, CloudFront)
- IaC: Terraform, Ansible
- Data Layer Infrastructure: PostgreSQL (RDS), OpenSearch / OpenSearch Serverless, Amazon S3, RDS Proxy
- CI/CD & Tools: GitLab, Jenkins
Responsibilities
- Architect and implement fully automated, repeatable release pipelines, replacing legacy patterns with modern DevOps best practices
- Own the deployment and infrastructure orchestration for our Python-based AI agent runtime on AWS Lambda (Graviton/ARM64 architectures)
- Design and lead the infrastructure roadmap for migrating core data storage to a highly scalable serverless architecture to handle peak traffic spikes efficiently
- Lead the transition of primary transactional databases to high-availability (Multi-AZ) configurations ensuring zero downtime
- Proactively manage cost optimization, infrastructure right-sizing, security monitoring, and compliance standards
Requirements
- Extensive hands-on experience managing core AWS services (including EC2, ECS/Fargate, Lambda, VPC, RDS, and Route 53) within a commercial production environment
- Solid understanding of hosting, monitoring, and scaling serverless applications and event-driven architectures on AWS Lambda
- Strong commercial expertise in Terraform for building and maintaining infrastructure as code (experience with Ansible is a plus)
- A solid conceptual understanding of database scaling, multi-tenant pool models with metadata isolation, and serverless compute paradigms
- Prior experience working within, or maintaining infrastructure for, strict industry compliance frameworks (such as SOC 2 Type II) is highly desirable
- Ability to write custom Python or Bash scripts for cloud automation, data migrations, and interacting with cloud SDKs
Our Benefits
- Flexible part-time hours matching your schedule
- Professional and career growth promotion
- Competitive compensation based on tracked hours or fixed retainer
- Internal Medical Program
- Program for veterans
- Regular technical training at our office
- English courses
