Job description
About the Position
We're seeking a Senior Azure Cloud and Full-Stack Engineer to design, build, and operate secure, reliable, scalable, and cost-efficient Python services on Microsoft Azure. You will own and lead the cloud backend and web-based admin portal used for data collection from our Android connected-vehicle and infotainment applications.
Responsibilities
- Design, develop, and maintain secure, scalable REST APIs and backend services using Python.
- Build and operate event-triggered, scheduled, and batch-processing workflows for connected-vehicle and infotainment data.
- Own and evolve the internal admin portal, including its React and TypeScript frontend, Node.js server, operational workflows, and backend integrations.
- Use Microsoft Azure services-including Blob Storage, Table Storage, Event Grid, Key Vault, Azure Identity, and Azure Monitor-to support backend, storage, security, and processing needs.
- Design and maintain PostgreSQL data models, queries, migrations, and access patterns with a focus on data integrity, performance, and scalability.
- Package and operate services using Docker and Kubernetes/AKS, including APIs, scheduled jobs, and processing workloads.
- Build and improve CI/CD pipelines and manage team-owned cloud infrastructure using Terraform.
- Apply security best practices across APIs and the admin portal, including OAuth2, OpenID Connect, JWT validation, Microsoft Entra ID, role-based authorization, secrets management, and least-privilege access.
- Improve platform reliability through automated testing, structured logging, monitoring, alerting, tracing, and production troubleshooting.
- Optimize application performance, cloud-resource usage, and operational costs across the backend and admin portal.
- Collaborate closely with Android developers and other stakeholders to define API contracts, deliver end-to-end features, and maintain compatibility across applications.
- Document architectural decisions, operational procedures, data contracts, and important technical trade-offs.
- Evaluate relevant cloud, backend, and web technologies and introduce improvements that provide clear product or operational value.
Requirements
- 8+ years of experience developing cloud backend or full-stack applications on Azure, or equivalent AWS/GCP experience with the ability to ramp up quickly on Azure.
- Strong Python development skills, including experience designing, building, testing, and operating RESTful APIs and backend services.
- Experience developing modern web applications using TypeScript, React, and Node.js.
- Strong SQL and PostgreSQL skills, including data modeling, schema migrations, query optimization, transactions, and data-integrity practices.
- Experience building event-triggered, scheduled, and batch-processing workflows for operational or high-volume data.
- Hands-on experience with relevant Azure services such as Blob Storage, Table Storage, Event Grid, Key Vault, Azure Identity, Microsoft Entra ID, and Azure Monitor.
- Experience building and maintaining CI/CD pipelines and managing cloud infrastructure using Terraform.
- Experience with containerization and orchestration using Docker, Kubernetes, and AKS.
- Strong understanding of API and application security, including OAuth2, OpenID Connect, JWT, role-based authorization, secrets management, and least-privilege access.
- Experience with production observability and operations, including structured logging, metrics, tracing, monitoring, alerting, performance optimization, and incident troubleshooting.
- Proficiency with Git-based development, code reviews, automated unit and integration testing, and maintainable software-design practices.
- Ability to take end-to-end technical ownership across backend services, data processing, cloud infrastructure, and the admin portal.
- Experience collaborating with Android teams and maintaining contracts between mobile applications, APIs, processing workflows, and web applications.
- Creative and strategic problem-solving skills, with strong attention to detail and a pragmatic approach to technical decisions.
- Ability to work effectively in a multidisciplinary, deadline-driven, and outcome-oriented environment.
- Clear communicator who can explain technical trade-offs, work autonomously, document decisions, and collaborate effectively across Android, product, cloud, and operational teams.
Nice to Have
- Experience with Azure Event Grid and event-driven processing patterns.
- Experience working with automotive, connected-vehicle, infotainment, diagnostic, or telemetry data.
- Familiarity with Android development using Kotlin, including mobile-to-cloud API integration, authentication, background processing, and application lifecycle considerations.
- Familiarity with workflow orchestration and scheduled data processing using Airflow or Kubernetes CronJobs.
- Experience building internal admin portals, operational dashboards, data-management tools, or role-based workflows.
- Familiarity with Azure Maps, Azure AI services, or AI-assisted data-processing workflows.
- Experience optimizing PostgreSQL queries, indexes, and data models for operational reporting and high-volume datasets.
- Familiarity with OpenTelemetry, Azure Monitor, and operating distributed workloads in production.
We Offer
- Opportunity to work with a leading software services company.
- Collaborate with a team developing high-quality software for the automotive industry.
- Remote work options.
