Senior Azure Platform Engineer

About the Position

We are expanding the Azure Data Platform (ADP) platform team and are looking for a skilled Senior Azure Platform Engineer to help us build the infrastructure and platform enablers required to support our organizational data initiatives. This is an opportunity to drive transformation, enabling our engineering teams to accelerate the delivery of data solutions through platform automation, infrastructure, security, and self-service capabilities.

Responsibilities

• Design, implement, and maintain platform features on ADP, ensuring scalability, security, and ease of use for development teams
• Set expectations in terms of best practices and engineering quality for platform users
• Contribute to DevOps practices across ADP, including automation, continuous delivery, and infrastructure as code
• Partner with data engineers, developers, and product managers to ensure the platform delivers optimal performance and a smooth developer experience
• Leverage Azure services to build robust, cloud-native infrastructure, while also ensuring integration with existing systems
• Manage and evolve infrastructure using Terraform, applying best practices for cloud architecture and deployment
• Drive Agile practices within the team to ensure continuous improvement and iterative delivery of platform solutions
• Work closely with data engineers to create seamless data workflows and processes, particularly using tools such as Databricks
• Help data engineers reach expectations on best practices set by the platform
• Automate key processes across CI/CD pipelines and cloud infrastructure, enhancing platform resilience and reducing operational overhead

Requirements

• Minimum 5-7 years of relevant technical experience at mid/senior level
• Experience working with Azure cloud infrastructure, with an emphasis on data processing, analytics, and networking in a cloud environment
• Proficiency in Terraform, Databricks, and Python
• Familiarity with Git, including GitHub and GitHub Actions
• Proven ability to design and implement cloud platform features that improve developer productivity and facilitate self-service
• Understanding of DevOps practices, continuous delivery pipelines, and Agile methodologies
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, capable of working across multifunctional teams to align platform objectives with business goals
• Proactive approach to resolving or proposing solutions for complex technical challenges related to cloud infrastructure, scalability, and automation
• Professional-level or fluent English

Nice to Have

• Experience with Unity Catalog
• Familiarity with containerization and orchestration tools such as Docker and Kubernetes
• Familiarity with building or maintaining internal developer portals, including Web Frameworks and Python API Frameworks
• Experience in retail or e-commerce environments
• Knowledge of Dutch or French
