About the Position

We are seeking a Senior Back-End Engineer with 5+ years of experience to join our wellness tech company in Ukraine/Remote. You will be building scalable backend systems for our consumer health platform.

Responsibilities

Core Platform Services

• RESTful APIs serving patient body composition data with complex querying and filtering capabilities
• Prescription management system integrating with pharmacy fulfillment partners
• Medication dosage calculation engine implementing weight-adjusted dosing algorithms
• Real-time body composition analysis pipeline processing data from our Body Pod hardware
• Expected change calculator generating personalized projections based on medication type, dosage, and patient physiology

Healthcare Data Infrastructure

• HIPAA-compliant data storage and access control systems
• Patient-provider relationship management with granular permission models
• Audit logging system tracking all access to protected health information
• Secure messaging infrastructure for patient-provider communication
• Integration layer connecting with external EHR systems and pharmacy networks

Analytics & Intelligence

• Time-series data processing for body composition metrics (weight, fat mass, muscle mass, visceral fat, hydration, segmental measurements)
• Medication effectiveness analysis comparing expected vs. actual outcomes
• Statistical algorithms identifying meaningful changes vs. normal biological variation
• Data aggregation services supporting clinical dashboards and visualizations
• Background job processing for report generation and notification systems

AI Integration

• API layer for AI integration powering our Pro.f clinical assistant
• Prompt engineering infrastructure using SynthLang methodology
• Widget generation service creating dynamic clinical content (Progress Summary, Medication Effectiveness, Clinical Recommendations)
• Response validation and fallback systems ensuring clinical reliability
• Caching and optimization strategies for AI-generated content

Subscription & Billing

• Subscription management system for medication plans
• Payment processing integration with PCI-compliant handling
• Automated billing cycles tied to medication shipment schedules
• Insurance verification and prior authorization workflow systems
• Refund and adjustment handling for dosage changes

Requirements

Technical Excellence

• 5+ years of professional back-end development experience
• Expert-level proficiency in at least one modern backend language (Python, Node.js, Go, Java, or similar)
• Strong database design skills with both SQL and understanding of data normalization
• Experience building RESTful APIs consumed by web and mobile clients
• Deep understanding of authentication/authorization patterns (OAuth, JWT, RBAC)
• Knowledge of distributed systems, caching strategies, and performance optimization
• Experience with cloud infrastructure (AWS, GCP, or Azure)

Healthcare/Regulated Industry Experience (Strongly Preferred)

• Experience building HIPAA-compliant applications or working with PHI
• Understanding of healthcare data standards (HL7, FHIR)
• Familiarity with audit logging and compliance requirements
• Background in pharmacy systems, EHR integrations, or clinical workflows
• Experience with regulated data environments (healthcare, finance, etc.)

System Design & Architecture

• Proven ability to design scalable, maintainable system architectures
• Experience with microservices or service-oriented architectures
• Understanding of API versioning and backward compatibility strategies
• Knowledge of database migration strategies and zero-downtime deployments
• Comfort with complex data modeling for healthcare entities

Data Processing & Analytics

• Experience with time-series data and statistical analysis
• Ability to implement mathematical algorithms and scientific calculations
• Understanding of data validation and anomaly detection
• Background in building data pipelines or ETL systems
• Familiarity with data visualization support (preparing data for charting)
