Job Description, Responsibilities & Requirements

About the Position

Svitla Systems Inc. is seeking a Senior Back End Engineer with Go for a full-time position (40 hours per week) in Argentina. Our client is a quantum computing hardware and software company.

You'll build out, together with the Data Ingestion Engineer, the rest of the edge appliance light processors, anonymization, crypto-agility hooks, lifecycle and update tooling, and the runtime that everything on the box depends on. Where the ingestion role lives close to protocols, this role lives close to the appliance itself - the code that has to keep running, in the field, on a Linux box the team cannot reach with a screen sharer.

Responsibilities

  • Build the edge runtime components beneath and around the collector: light pre-processors, anonymization, local buffering, supervision, and lifecycle management.
  • Own the crypto-agility surface at the edge in partnership with the Cybersecurity engineer - pluggable key sources, rotation flows, and clean integration points for QKD and PQC material.
  • Move comfortably between Go and Rust. Use each where it earns its keep: Go for control-plane services and operator tooling, Rust for performance- and safety-critical paths.
  • Stand up and own appliance observability: structured logs, metrics, and traces that survive intermittent connectivity and let us debug from upstream.
  • Own the OTA update flow, rollback safety, and configuration-as-data so we can ship to the field without breaking running customers.
  • Co-own data contracts with the Senior Data Engineer and the Senior Agentic AI Engineer; what leaves the edge has to be what the rest of the platform expects.
  • Contribute to Phase 1 acceptance: appliance binaries deployed, telemetry flowing, anonymization verified, update path exercised end-to-end.

Requirements

  • Strong production experience in Go.
  • Understanding of Linux systems programming, including processes, IPC, performance, and packaging.
  • Experience building services that have to survive in environments you do not control: retries, idempotency, partial-failure handling, configuration drift.
  • Working knowledge of network protocols and on-the-wire formats sufficient to integrate cleanly with the collector.
  • Experience with edge, appliance, or embedded-style deployment (resource constraints, footprint discipline, field upgrade paths).
  • Strong expertise in code review and written communication; you are comfortable specifying interfaces alongside the engineers who will consume them.
  • Hands-on experience with networking across load balancers and/or WebSockets; running production workloads in Kubernetes at scale; containerized distributed systems; Helm charts.

Nice to Have

  • Exposure to Rust is preferred, and candidates should be willing and able to work in Rust when needed, but deep production experience in Rust is not required.
  • Knowledge of C++ for hot paths or for interfacing with vendor SDKs.
  • Experience with Crypto library (OpenSSL, BoringSSL, liboqs) and familiarity with key-rotation patterns.
  • Prior experience with NFV, CPE, or security appliance products.
  • Exposure to NETCONF / gRPC / gNMI tooling (so you can pair fluently with the Data Ingestion engineer).
  • Familiarity with secure boot, attested update flows, or supply-chain attestations for field devices.

We Offer

  • US and EU projects based on advanced technologies.
  • Competitive compensation based on skills and experience.
  • Comprehensive private medical insurance.
  • Regular performance appraisals to support your growth.
  • Flexibility in workspace, either remote, our welcoming office or local coworking.
  • Bonuses for recommendations of new employees.
  • Bonuses for article writing, public talks, other activities.
  • 15 vacation days, 10 national holidays, 10 sick leaves.
  • Personalized learning program tailored to your interests and skill development.
  • Free tech webinars and meetups organized by Svitla.
  • Fun corporate online/offline celebrations and activities.
  • Well-established remote culture.
  • Awesome team, friendly and supportive community!
