Senior Back End.NET Engineer

About the Position

Svitla Systems Inc. is looking for a Senior Back End .NET Engineer for a full-time position (40 hours per week) in Costa Rica. Our client has multiple online platforms providing spiritual guidance on love, relationships, and life. They offer a vast portfolio of over 20 brands in the spiritual and emotional wellness space.

You will help modernize the backend architecture supporting B2C and B2B customers by building a scalable, modular architecture, creating RESTful APIs for data access, and implementing the platform's core business logic.

Responsibilities

• Collaborate in building a modular monolith architecture following modern software engineering best practices.
• Define and enforce clear module boundaries, ownership, and contracts.
• Develop application code that is secure, well tested, well documented, extensible, and scalable.
• Work closely with cross-functional teams to align technical solutions with business goals.
• Participate in code reviews, mentoring, and knowledge sharing within the engineering team.
• Contribute to backend architecture decisions, including tooling, frameworks, and standards.

Requirements

• 6+ years of professional experience in backend application development.
• Strong knowledge of C#,.NET Core (modern versions preferred).
• Hands-on experience in modernizing or refactoring legacy applications.
• Understanding of modular monolith architecture.
• Deep understanding of architectural design principles (Clean Architecture, vertical slices).
• Experience designing and working with relational databases (SQL Server, PostgreSQL, or similar).
• Experience building and consuming RESTful APIs.
• Knowledge of unit, integration, and automation testing tools (e.g., Playwright).
• Familiarity with agentic AI development, utilizing tools such as Claude, Copilot, and Cursor.
• Strong problem-solving, communication, and collaboration skills.
• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related field, or equivalent technical experience.
