Senior Business Analyst

We've been scaling up since 2018, and our Canadian head office is now more than 80 people strong. We work with some of the largest banks across Canada and the United States, using our next-gen engagement platform and startup culture to help them transform.

As a Senior Business Analyst in Services, your goal is to define the essential requirements to enable our customers to achieve their objectives and realize their customer experience vision. You work closely with both our customers and development/SCRUM teams. You are the customer’s proxy product owner for a project and guide the team in making the right choices to maximize project and customer success. Our clients and implementation partners see you as a trusted consultant. You analyze, capture and prioritize customer requirements for new customer experience initiatives. You identify product improvements and harvestable features. You define and actively improve best practices in your day-to-day work. You provide guidance to clients on the best usage of our product as well as customization. Where customization might be necessary, you also work with Backbase R&D colleagues to explore all out-of-the-box product options and where the product cannot be used, you recommend enhancements to the product. On the customer side, you are managing expectations and helping them translate their vision into a sound project backlog. You are seen as an expert by clients. You lead engaging workshops with our customers to identify all functional requirements needed. You actively contribute to the BA Chapter/Guild. You also provide some amount of mentoring to Junior Business Analysts.

Responsibilities

• Work closely with customers and Backbase UX design and development teams.
• Act as the product owner for a project and guide the team in making the right choices to maximize success for the project and the customer.
• Analyze, capture, and prioritize customer requirements for new customer experience initiatives.
• Perform business process gap analysis and write user stories.
• Manage expectations and help customers translate their vision into a sound project backlog.
• Organize engaging workshops with customers to identify all technical requirements needed.

Requirements

• University degree (preferably business or IT related).
• 7+ years working experience as a Business Analyst in the field.
• Experience working on lending products such as commercial, corporate, or construction loans.
• Excellent communication skills in English and comfortable interacting with stakeholders within Backbase and potential customers at various levels.
• Good analytical and evaluative skills, and the ability to translate customer pain points into detailed product requirements.
• Organizational and cultural sensitivity.
• Ability to execute product gap analysis based on gathered requirements to maximize project and customer success.
• Knowledge of requirements management, process modeling, and development methodologies.
