About the Position
We are seeking a Senior Composites Design Engineer with over 10 years of experience to join our engineering team in Banbury, UK. You will support the development, qualification, and production of advanced composite structures within a challenging engineering environment.
Location: Banbury
On-site Requirement: 3 Days Per Week
Seniority: 10+ Years Experience
Security Clearance: Candidates must be willing and eligible to obtain BPSS clearance.
Responsibilities
- Develop composite component designs and detailed engineering models.
- Generate qualification, verification, and test strategies for composite structures.
- Support material selection, structural analysis, and design justification activities.
- Review drawings, specifications, and technical requirements for compliance.
- Lead development and qualification testing activities.
- Collaborate with manufacturing, quality, and programme teams throughout delivery.
Requirements
Required Skills
- Significant experience designing and developing composite structures within demanding engineering environments.
- Strong understanding of composite materials, manufacturing processes, and structural performance considerations.
- Ability to generate engineering analysis, design substantiation, and technical justification for composite components.
- Experience planning, supporting, and assessing qualification or development testing activities.
- Strong understanding of engineering drawings, technical specifications, and compliance requirements.

- Excellent communication skills with the ability to engage confidently with customers, suppliers, and internal stakeholders.
- Highly motivated and capable of working independently while supporting wider project objectives.
- Collaborative approach to working across engineering, manufacturing, quality, and programme teams.

Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's or Master's degree in Engineering, or relevant technical military background with equivalent experience.
Desirable Skills
- Experience using NX and Teamcenter within product development environments.
- Knowledge of statistical analysis techniques and engineering data interpretation.
- Understanding of polymer matrix composites, including resin systems and fibre technologies.
- Experience supporting composite qualification, certification, or production activities.
