(Senior) Controller (m/f/d) – Financial Reporting, Planning & BI
Primary stack
Job description
About the Position
Join our team!
We’re not looking for an all-around talent who simply fills out spreadsheets, but rather a meticulous numbers whiz (m/f/x) who doesn’t just report figures-but explains them: with a solid understanding of balance sheets, income statements, and cash flow, as well as a passion for preparing data in modern BI tools so that our management can use it to make forward-looking decisions.
You’ll work closely with senior management, the accounting department, and our interdisciplinary teams, actively driving the transformation of our reporting from traditional Excel analyses to automated, interactive dashboards.
Responsibilities
- Impactful Reporting: You are responsible for monthly, quarterly, and annual reporting - including target/actual comparisons and variance analyses-and use these to derive clear, strategic recommendations for management.
- Integrated Financial Planning: You will manage planning, budgeting, and forecasting based on integrated financial models in which the income statement, balance sheet, and cash flow statement are consistently linked, and you will continuously refine these models.
- Financial Analysis & Treasury: You will analyze and comment on the balance sheet, income statement, and cash flow statement, and you will be responsible for liquidity planning and working capital management.
- BI Pioneering: You will build modern BI dashboards and data models (e.g., Power BI, Tableau, or Qlik), define relevant KPIs, and establish a “single source of truth.”
- Future Finance & Automation: You automate our controlling processes, integrate ERP, accounting, and operational data sources, and evaluate the use of AI tools (e.g., for smart annotations, predictive forecasts, or anomaly detection).
- Financial Statement Support: You’ll support the team with monthly and annual financial statements in close, collaborative coordination with our accounting department.
- Business Partnering: As a peer and trusted advisor, you’ll advise business units on investment decisions, profitability analyses, and ad hoc analyses.
Requirements
- Your Background: A successfully completed degree in economics, business informatics, or a comparable qualification (e.g., accountant with a strong focus on controlling).
- Your Experience: Several years of solid experience in auditing (ideally at a Big 4 firm in the audit/assurance division) or in operational/strategic controlling.
- Understanding of financials: A deep understanding of balance sheets, income statements, and cash flow statements, as well as how they interact (HGB required; IFRS a plus).
- Modeling skills: You know the “three-pillar model” of integrated financial planning inside and out and understand exactly how operational assumptions (e.g., payment terms, investments, depreciation) impact all financial projections.
- Tech & BI Affinity: Practical experience in data modeling with at least one common BI tool (Power BI, Tableau, Qlik, or similar)-knowledge of DAX, SQL, or Python is a strong plus.
- Innovative Spirit: You’re open to modern tools and, ideally, have some initial experience with AI applications (e.g., ChatGPT, Copilot) for process optimization and data analysis.
- System & Language Skills: Proficiency in Excel and ERP systems (e.g., DATEV, SAP, Microsoft Dynamics). You communicate at a business-level proficiency in German and are fluent in English.
We Offer
- Flexible Working Models: We offer flexible working models including home office options, flexible working hours, and job rotation opportunities.
- Remote Work: Work remotely from anywhere for up to 3 weeks per year.
- Employee Benefits: Enjoy benefits such as Company Bike, discounted Body & Soul memberships, and numerous employee discounts.
- Team Events: Be part of our legendary team and company events designed to inspire, connect, and exchange ideas.
- Rooftop Terrace: Enjoy your coffee and lunch breaks on Munich’s most beautiful rooftop terrace with our in-house barista and even real sheep.
