About the Position

Senior Counsel - Employment Law

Amgen is seeking a Senior Counsel in Employment Law to provide strategic legal counsel across Europe, focusing on complex employment law matters. This role is pivotal in advising on employment and labor law issues, with a primary focus on Europe.

Responsibilities

• Advise HR and business leaders on significant and complex employment law matters across multiple European jurisdictions, with a primary focus on cross-border matters and employment issues supported by the Staff Relations team.
• Manage employment litigation, administrative claims, and disputes, including oversight of outside counsel.
• Provide legal guidance on employee relations issues, investigations, disciplinary actions, and terminations.
• Partner with regional HR and Staff Relations team to identify and mitigate employment-related legal risks in cross-country initiatives while supporting business objectives.
• Coordinate with local counsel on country-specific labor and employment law issues throughout Europe as needed.
• Collaborate with colleagues across the Law Department and other functions to deliver practical, business-focused legal solutions and act as a subject-matter expert and escalation point for complex, sensitive, novel, or cross-border employment law matters.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree or equivalent and qualified to practice in the UK and/or Ireland (admitted to bar or Law Society Roll of Solicitors).
• Significant experience in employment law practice, including in EU countries.
• Experience with a multinational corporation or a globally recognized law firm.
• Experience working with cross-functional teams.

Location

• Ability to work flexibly from home with regular office work either from our Cambridge or Uxbridge next-generation workspace.
