About the Role
We are seeking a skilled and innovative Senior Cypher/Graph Engineer to join our Data & Technology Solutions team. In this role, you will be instrumental in designing, building, and optimizing graph database solutions that uncover complex relationships within our vast datasets, driving new insights for our clients and powering advanced features within WPP Open.
Responsibilities

Design and Implement Graph Database Solutions
- Design and develop robust graph data models to represent complex relationships within various datasets.
- Implement, configure, and maintain graph databases (e.g., Neo4j) in cloud environments (AWS, GCP).
- Write, optimize, and troubleshoot complex Cypher queries to extract, transform, and analyze data efficiently.

Apply Graph Algorithms and Enable Analytics
- Identify opportunities to apply graph algorithms to uncover hidden patterns and insights within our interconnected data.
- Collaborate with data scientists to develop and integrate graph-based features for machine learning models and AI applications on the WPP Open platform.

Ensure Performance, Scalability, and Maintainability
- Monitor and optimize the performance of graph databases and Cypher queries.
- Contribute to the architectural design and scaling strategies for our graph database infrastructure.
- Implement best practices for graph database management, including backup, recovery, and security.

Collaborate, Educate, and Innovate
- Serve as a subject matter expert on graph databases and Cypher, providing guidance and training to other engineering and data science teams.
- Actively participate in architectural discussions, code reviews, and technical decision-making processes.
- Research and evaluate new graph technologies, tools, and methodologies to continuously improve our capabilities.
Requirements

Experience
- 5-10 years of professional experience in a role focused on graph databases, data engineering, or software engineering with significant exposure to graph technologies.

Skills
- Proven expertise and hands-on experience with Cypher query language.
- Demonstrated experience with at least one major graph database platform (e.g., Neo4j, Graph API).
- Strong understanding of graph data modeling principles and best practices.
- Proficiency in at least one modern programming language (e.g., Python).
- Familiarity with common graph algorithms and their practical applications.
- Experience working in a cloud environment (GCP preferred), including deploying and managing database services.
- Understanding of data warehousing concepts and experience with data integration/ETL processes.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Excellent communication skills.

- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Mathematics, or a related quantitative field, or equivalent practical experience.
