About the Position
Senior Data Center Technician
Are you a hands-on technician who thrives on keeping systems healthy and loves bringing a little automation to the daily grind? Join a team of Keepit's global cloud backup platform.
As a Senior Data Center Technician in the Operations team, you will play a central role in ensuring the reliability, scalability, and efficiency of Keepit's data center infrastructure. This is a full-time, hybrid role, with regular on-site presence in our European datacenters, when hands-on work is needed.
Beyond routine maintenance, we'd love for you to bring scripting and automation skills to the table. If you can help automate firmware updates, standardize configuration management, and reduce the manual toil that comes with managing hardware at scale, you'll fit right in.
You will work closely with engineering and operations colleagues to anticipate infrastructure needs, make smart purchasing decisions, and keep our data centers running smoothly at all times.
Responsibilities
- Day-to-day monitoring and maintenance of data center hardware and infrastructure.
- Physical hardware troubleshooting, replacement, and upkeep during on-site visits.
- Firmware updates and patch management across servers and network equipment.
- Scripting and automation to streamline repetitive operational tasks.
- Configuration management of hardware and network devices.
- Maintaining accurate records of equipment status, changes, and procedures.
- Contributing to operational improvements and standardization efforts.
Requirements
Must-haves:
- Several years of experience working in a data center environment at a senior level
- Proven experience with capacity management and infrastructure planning
- Experience with hardware procurement and vendor coordination
- Strong hands-on skills with physical server and network hardware
- Structured and detail-oriented approach to documentation and asset management
- Fluent in written and spoken English
Nice-to-haves:
- Experience scripting in Python or similar for operational automation
- Familiarity with firmware management tools and configuration management frameworks like Ansible, Puppet, or similar
- Experience with IPMI, iDRAC, iLO, or similar out-of-band management interfaces
- Experience with monitoring and observability tooling
- Familiarity with Linux-based environments
- Experience working in a cloud or SaaS company context

Our platform provides customers with an immutable, historical archive of their data in systems such as Microsoft 365, Google Workspace, Salesforce, Entra ID, Dynamics 365, and Zendesk.
We protect our customers against everything, ranging from ransomware to simple accidents.
The majority of our back-end components are written in clean, modern C++ using mainly purpose-built components. Components responsible for business processes and data mining are built using Common Lisp. Everything runs on Linux.
