In Bulgaria we're looking for a senior-level data engineering role focused on banking and payments systems.

The job involves analyzing complex financial data flows, designing and maintaining data mappings between systems, and building scalable data pipelines using Spark (Scala/Python), SQL, and GCP (especially BigQuery/Dataform).

It is strongly oriented toward enterprise banking environments, requiring close collaboration with business stakeholders, documentation of system/data architecture, testing/QA, and working in agile teams.

Responsibilities

• Technical analysis and documentation of complex data flows and system architectures in a payments processing environment
• Creation and maintenance of data mappings between source and target systems in distributed Big Data environments
• Close collaboration with business and IT departments for requirements gathering and implementation
• Development and optimization of data pipelines using Spark-Scala and SQL on Google Cloud Platform
• Modelling and implementation of Dataform transformations and integration into existing cloud architectures
• Management and monitoring of batch processes via automation tools (UC4)
• Independent execution of testing and quality assurance activities
• Preparation of status reports and presentation of results to stakeholders
• Active participation in agile team ceremonies and Scrum processes

Requirements

• Minimum 3+ years of relevant experience as a Business Analyst or Data Mapper – ideally at a major bank
• Very strong background in technical analysis and design of data solutions
• Extensive expertise in payments and transaction processing
• Very strong knowledge of distributed system architectures and Big Data environments (Hadoop)
• Very strong hands-on experience with Spark-Scala and SQL
• Solid knowledge of cloud technologies, preferably GCP and Dataform
• Experience with automation tools such as UC4 is an advantage
• Experience in test execution and quality assurance
• Fluent English (written and spoken); basic German is an advantage
• Strong communication skills, assertiveness, and ability to work independently
• Proven experience collaborating across multiple business and IT departments
• Comfortable working in agile project environments
