About the Position

Senior Data Engineer (Agentic Development focus) (M/F)

Construo is seeking a Senior Data Engineer with a focus on agentic development to join our team in Spain (Remote). Your mission will be to enhance and advance data models, ETL pipelines, and services for a large multinational client in the financial sector. The project follows a new agentic development framework, where AI agents handle the development lifecycle.

Responsibilities

• Design, implement, and maintain data pipelines using AI agents to produce the code
• Develop algorithms to transform data into useful information
• Analyze data to identify issues and define the logic for complex functions and scripts
• Guide and validate AI-generated solutions to ensure they follow standards, focusing on simplicity, performance, and maintainability
• Own data modeling and data quality, acting as the expert behind the AI that produces the results
• Explore new data sources and integrate them into the data product(s)
• Work with CI/CD processes for data, as well as data testing and monitoring
• Create prototypes and documentation underlying main aspects of the work

Requirements

• Bachelor, master's, or Ph.D. in mathematics, statistics, physics, engineering, or other quantitative subjects
• Strong hands-on experience with dbt and SQL, our main data transformation stack on Databricks
• Experience with, or a strong interest in, AI-driven/agentic development, and comfort directing and validating AI-generated code rather than coding by hand
• Proven experience with Python Programming (PySpark is a plus)
• Software development background with knowledge of design patterns and unit-testing, enough to review and validate AI-generated code
• Proven experience working with CI/CD processes for data as well as data testing and monitoring
• Great communication skills (both verbal and written), being able to describe complex technical concepts and results in a clear and detailed manner to non-technical audiences
• Strong knowledge of data modeling, data quality, and data architecture concepts
• Knowledge of system design, data structures, algorithms, storage systems, and cloud infrastructure

Nice to Have

• Experience in agile projects using agile collaboration tools (e.g., Jira, Confluence)
• Experience in the insurance/reinsurance or financial industry
• Good communicator in English (B2/C1 level)
