Job Description, Responsibilities & Requirements

About the Position

We are seeking a Senior Data Engineer / Team Lead to drive the design and development of a growing BI platform in the real estate industry. In this role, you will take technical ownership of complex BI applications and architect scalable, high-performance data pipelines built on strong data modeling principles. You will work closely with a skilled, cross-functional engineering team, providing technical leadership, mentoring team members, and contributing to architectural and technology decisions. Using a modern, cloud-based technology stack, you will help support an expanding business intelligence capabilities while exploring and adopting emerging technologies, including AI and ML, to continuously enhance the platforms and services delivered to our customers.

Responsibilities

  • Design, build, and evolve complex, scalable ETL/ELT pipelines
  • Ensure reliable and efficient data flows across BI and analytics platforms
  • Lead by example through hands-on development and ownership of critical data components
  • Collaborate closely with product managers, analysts, and engineers to define and deliver high-impact data solutions
  • Continuously improve system performance, scalability, and maintainability, including advanced SQL query optimization
  • Conduct and oversee code reviews, ensuring high code quality, performance, and adherence to best practices
  • Establish, follow, and actively promote data engineering standards, best practices, and architectural guidelines
  • Mentor and support team members, fostering technical growth and knowledge sharing

Requirements

  • 5+ years of hands-on experience as a Data Engineer
  • Strong proficiency in SQL and/or PySpark
  • Experience with Microsoft Fabric and/or Azure Databricks
  • Experience with BI visualization tools (e.g. Power BI, SSRS, Tableau or Qlik)
  • Proven experience designing, building, and maintaining complex ETL/ELT pipelines
  • Advanced knowledge of data modeling
  • Advanced experience with at least one orchestration tool (Azure Data Factory preferred; SSIS, Apache Airflow, AWS Glue, Talend, or similar)
  • Experience with at least one relational database (Microsoft SQL Server, PostgreSQL, Oracle)
  • Ability to optimize and tune OLAP and OLTP queries
  • Experience working with cloud platforms (Microsoft Azure preferred)
  • Familiarity with Git
  • Hands-on experience working in an Agile/Scrum development environment
  • Upper-Intermediate English or higher (written and spoken)

Nice to Have

  • 3+ years of experience leading engineering teams, and scaling team capabilities
  • Advanced experience designing scalable, high-performance data architectures
  • Knowledge of data governance, data quality, and security best practices
  • Experience with NoSQL databases (Azure Cosmos DB, Mongo, Cassandra, etc.)
  • Experience with AI/ML data pipelines or analytics use cases
  • Experience with unit and integration testing
  • Experience working in the real estate or similar data-intensive domains
