Job description

About the Position

We are seeking a Senior Data Scientist (all genders) to join our team in Germany. In this role, you will develop and implement sophisticated analytical solutions within strategic consulting projects, with a clear focus on the design and implementation of mathematical optimization models. You will work closely with our project teams, client teams, and fellow Data Scientists, taking on responsibility for your own workstream, including clearly defined result accountability. You already have initial team lead experience and wish to further develop and mentor colleagues.

Responsibilities

  • Support project acquisition, particularly through the development and conception of the approach in the optimization workstream and its integration into the overall strategic issue.
  • Oversee the implementation of the project according to the planned approach, including the development of mathematical optimization models, the selection of suitable solution methods, the preparation and coordination of the underlying customer data, and the operational implementation on our data platform.
  • Your contribution is crucial for integrating analytical insights into strategic decision-making processes.

Requirements

  • Completed university degree (Master's or PhD) with a strong quantitative focus (e.g., Mathematics, Operations Research, Computer Science, Engineering, or related fields).
  • At least 5 years of relevant professional experience in the field of mathematical optimization, ideally in a consulting environment or data-driven industry projects.
  • Proven experience in the development and application of complex optimization models – linear, integer, nonlinear, or heuristic.
  • Strong analytical thinking and the ability to quickly structure complex problems, abstract them purposefully, and transform them into robust, calculable models.
  • Experience in working with interdisciplinary teams and direct customer contact – ideally with your own result accountability.
  • Initial team lead experience.
  • Excellent communication skills in German and English.

We Offer

  • Opportunity to work in a dynamic and innovative environment.
  • Collaborative and inclusive workplace culture.
  • Professional development opportunities.
