Job Description, Responsibilities & Requirements
About the Position
We are seeking an experienced Senior DataStage ETL Developer to design, develop, and execute high volume data migration pipelines that move legacy data into our modern data warehouse and cloud platforms. The role will be part of the Data Migration Delivery Team, working closely with Business Analysts, Data Architects, and Infrastructure experts to ensure accurate, secure, and timely migration of critical financial and operational data.
Responsibilities
- Design and execute ETL jobs for WITT Data migration (Legacy system to Transact) using IBM Infosphere DataStage.
- Work with Migration team, Business Analyst, Legacy team to provide Data mapping solutions in Data mapping workshops.
- Design Data model/Data transformation jobs in DataStage and generate transformed files.
- Perform data extraction from legacy core banking system, RDBMS, flat files, or third-party systems.
- Develop data transformation logic aligned with Transact data model and OFS standards.
- Work efficiently as part of an international multi-disciplinary team to drive the project to completion.
- Prepare migration strategy documents, mapping sheets, and runbooks specific to ETL.
- Perform pre-migration and post-migration data validations.
- Prepare reconciliation reports by comparing record count, balances, financial totals, and identify & resolve data mismatches and defects.
- Adhere to banking compliance, audit, and security standards.
- Provide production/L3 support for the delivered projects.
- Work with the Business Analyst and Solution architects to understand the business requirements and translate them to technical solutions in the application.
- Contribute/review the technical specifications.
- Responsible for managing & reporting technical risks.
- Control and maintain the quality of the developments (norms & standards, frameworks, source control, technical reviews, code reviews).
- Work with L1/L2 support team in case of emergency production issues and provide support in fixing the production incidents.
- Provide guidance to team members.
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in computer science, Information Systems, Engineering.
- 5+ years of hands-on experience designing, developing, and maintaining IBM Infosphere DataStage (v11.5 or later) in production.
- 3+ years of experience leading or heavily contributing to large-scale data migration projects (≥ 10 TB of source data, multiple source systems).
- Proven record of delivering end-to-end ETL pipelines that support cut-over and post-migration activities.
- Advanced SQL (Oracle, SQL Server, PostgreSQL, or DB2).
- Ability to write and optimize PL/SQL/T SQL scripts for data transformation and loading.
- IBM Infosphere DataStage (v11.5 or later): Parallel, serverless, and containerized job design; reusable stages, shared containers, parameter sets, and job variable mapping.
- SQL & RDBMS: Advanced SQL (joins, window functions, hierarchical queries). PL/SQL/T SQL for complex transformations, bulk loading, and error handling (Oracle, SQL Server, DB2, PostgreSQL).
- Data Migration Patterns: Full load, CDC (log-based, trigger-based), delta capture, cut-over planning, reconciliation, rollback procedures.
