About Rocket Factory Augsburg

At Rocket Factory Augsburg (RFA), we have one clear goal: to create low-cost, flexible, and reliable access to space. We specialize in building small launch vehicles designed to deploy satellites into Low Earth Orbit (LEO) and beyond. Together with you, we aim to revolutionize space services and help improve life on Earth. Sounds interesting? Then join our journey and become part of the team driving the New Space movement in Europe.

About the Team

Join a team that is shaping the future of European space transportation. In this role, you will take ownership of the electrical infrastructure that powers launch and test operations, from initial concept development through commissioning and operational readiness.

You will work on technically challenging projects involving high-reliability power systems, critical infrastructure, and complex industrial environments. Collaborating with multidisciplinary teams across engineering, operations, and construction, you will play a key role in building and maintaining the facilities that make successful launch campaigns possible.

If you are passionate about turning ambitious engineering concepts into safe, reliable, and operational systems, we would love to hear from you.

Your Tasks

  • Design, oversee the construction, and commission electrical infrastructure for launch and test sites.
  • Define and drive technical requirements for site layouts, utilities, and electrical systems.
  • Develop and guide the implementation of LV and MV power distribution systems, including switchgear, transformers, protection systems, and grounding concepts.
  • Ensure consistent documentation standards across electrical systems, infrastructure projects, and operational assets.
  • Support and mentor engineers and technicians during the implementation, testing, and commissioning of new systems.
  • Coordinate with internal and external stakeholders to ensure technical requirements are clearly communicated, aligned, and delivered.
  • Monitor project progress, manage technical risks, and provide regular status updates to the team lead.

Your Qualifications

Must-Have Skills

  • Bachelor's or Master's degree in Electrical Engineering or a related technical discipline, or equivalent practical experience.
  • Proven experience designing, installing, commissioning, or operating industrial electrical power distribution systems.
  • Strong expertise in AC power systems, including LV/MV switchgear, distribution boards, transformers, protection systems, and grounding.
  • Solid understanding of power system design and analysis, including load calculations, cable sizing, voltage drop analysis, and protection coordination.
  • Ability to develop, review, and maintain electrical engineering documentation such as single-line diagrams, electrical schematics, wiring diagrams, and technical specifications.
  • Experience managing electrical systems throughout the full project lifecycle, from concept and detailed design through installation, testing, commissioning, and troubleshooting.
  • Ability to work hands-on with hardware, installations, testing activities, and fault investigation.
  • Strong communication and collaboration skills, with the ability to work effectively in multidisciplinary and multicultural teams.
  • Fluent English communication skills, both written and spoken.

Nice-to-Have Skills

  • Experience with launch, aerospace, energy, industrial, or other mission-critical infrastructure environments.
  • Familiarity with IEC, BS, or comparable international electrical standards.
  • Experience coordinating contractors, construction activities, or external engineering partners.
  • Previous mentoring or technical leadership experience.
