Senior Engineering Team Lead - Generative AI Platform

Join Wise's Generative AI Platform team as a Senior Engineering Team Lead, guiding the sustainable growth of AI capabilities across the company.

Responsibilities

• Lead the team building and maintaining a platform that enables rapid experimentation and production of Generative AI based systems.
• Provide tooling, guidance, and guardrails to ensure the safety of customers and their data.
• Guide the sustainable growth of critical AI functions, leading other engineering leads.
• Shape multiple teams across AI enablement and controls.
• Influence how Wise builds and scales Generative AI capabilities, ensuring reliability, security, and operational excellence.

Requirements

• Experienced leader with confidence in problem-solving and guiding engineering teams.
• Solid engineering background in Python with years of experience in production and maintenance.
• High coding standards, understanding of test coverage best practices, and experience with microservices.
• Experience with distributed and concurrent systems, LLMs, and Prompt Engineering.
• Experience working with product teams to build ideas in production.
• Stay updated with the latest AI industry developments and trends.
• Great communication skills, ability to mentor junior engineers, and seek out feedback.

Nice to Have

• Background in Typescript/Javascript, Java, and experience with performant UIs.
• Familiarity with standard Java stack, including Spring Boot.
• Experience with Terraform, GitHub Actions, Infrastructure as Code, AWS, Docker, and Kubernetes.
• Knowledge of Semantic Search, RAG workflows, and MCP servers.
• Interest in payment platforms, foreign exchange, and complex systems architecture.

We Offer

• Starting salary: £135,000 - £175,000 + RSUs
