Job description

About the Position

Are you interested in solving the puzzle of creating efficient and scalable high-level financial structures rather than just preparing documentation? Do you enjoy being a liaison between corporate finance and local government?

We are looking for a Senior GL Accountant to join our team in Amsterdam, Netherlands. In this role, you will take full ownership of our holding-level accounting activities, ensuring statutory compliance, flawless month-end closes, and reliable group reporting.

Responsibilities

Day to day, you will:

  • Lead and coordinate holding-level accounting activities, including month-end, quarter-end, and year-end closes.
  • Prepare and review statutory financial statements and supporting documentation for holding entities.
  • Ensure complete compliance with local statutory accounting and Dutch reporting requirements.
  • Partner with the Controlling team to guide external auditors, advisors, and service providers through statutory reporting and audit cycles.
  • Analyze complex accounting matters, document key technical positions, and align accounting policies across holding entities.
  • Prepare reconciliations, journals, balance sheet reviews, and closing documentation for holding companies.
  • Monitor intercompany balances and lead intercompany accounting alignment and eliminations.
  • Improve finance workflows, internal controls, and reporting systems to help our accounting processes scale.

Requirements

  • 5–7 years of progressive experience in accounting, with substantial exposure to holding-company accounting.
  • Working knowledge of corporate income tax accounting and reporting, with experience supporting corporate income tax compliance, together with internal tax teams or external advisors.
  • Deep, practical knowledge of general ledger accounting, holding structures, and statutory reporting.
  • Strong understanding of Dutch statutory compliance requirements and accounting principles.
  • Proven experience preparing or coordinating statutory financial statements for legal entities in an international environment.
  • Solid experience operating within ERP-based systems (such as NetSuite) and managing complex spreadsheet analyses.
  • Fluent communication skills in English to collaborate effectively with global team members.

What You’ll Bring

  • A high level of ownership, reliability, and extreme attention to detail.
  • A proactive, solution-oriented mindset, looking at changing environments as puzzles to solve, not obstacles.
  • Strong logical reasoning and the ability to explain complex accounting treatments clearly.
  • The independence to structure your own work, manage deadlines, and balance multiple priorities.
  • A collaborative mindset, with the ability to build trust and work effectively across diverse, international teams.
  • A focus on quality over quick fixes, valuing long-term system scalability and clean documentation.

What Success Looks Like

  • First 3 months: You will get familiar with our global holding structure and ERP setup, successfully taking ownership of your first month-end close cycle for holding entities.
  • First 6 months: You will lead the preparation of statutory financial statements, establish a smooth operating rhythm with external auditors, and proactively identify areas where our intercompany reconciliations can be streamlined.
  • Long term: You will help raise the bar for our financial governance, standardizing our holding-level accounting processes to make them highly transparent, automated, and scalable.

We Offer

  • Strong base salary – We offer competitive pay that reflects your skills and experience.
  • Flexible work schedule – Enjoy the freedom to work from home or from the office.
  • Extra time off – More days to relax, recharge, and do the things you love.
  • Learning and development opportunities – Access to conferences, courses, and language classes.
  • Free meals and snacks – Lunch and refreshments provided to keep you fueled.
  • Health and wellness – On-site gyms or sports club stipends.
  • Internal events – Company-wide celebrations and team gatherings.
