Senior Java Developer

About the Position

We are seeking a Senior Java Developer with over 10 years of experience to join our leading bank in Australia. This role is part of a multi-year initiative focusing on microservice architecture and cloud deployment.

Responsibilities

• 10+ years of strong Java development experience in the following areas:
  • JDK 11 (Migrating to the latest version)
  • Microservice architecture patterns
  • Advanced Spring Boot / Cloud (AWS EC2, S3)
  • Deployment (Code Fresh, GitHub Actions)
  • Strong experience with SQL and database persistence frameworks (JPA, Hibernate, Oracle 11g onwards)
  • Strong experience in setting up test automation and unit testing (JUnit, Mockito)
  • Experience with build tools and commands (using Maven)
  • Experience with code versioning tools (GitHub)
  • Experience working in a fast-paced agile environment
  • Ability to understand business requirements and translate them into technical requirements
  • Demonstrable experience designing and implementing effective solutions to challenging requirements

Desirable:

• Experience troubleshooting through monitoring tools (Splunk)
• Domain knowledge: Banking environments

Requirements

Must Have

• Minimum 10 years of hands-on experience in software development.
• Strong proficiency in Java 11.
• Extensive experience with Spring Boot and the Spring Framework.
• Solid experience with JPA (Java Persistence API).
• Hands-on development experience with React.js.
• Strong understanding of object-oriented programming, RESTful APIs, and enterprise application development.
• Building high-throughput, low-latency Java software including performance tuning and optimization to achieve microsecond latencies.
• Passionate, self-starter with the ability to work on problems from inception to completion.
• Strong communication skills.
• Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.
• Ability to collaborate within Markets Front Office, support, and trading stakeholders.
• Strong academic background, preferably in computer science.

Nice to Have

• Knowledge about single-page applications, React.js, Redux, and Node.js.
• Knowledge of messaging systems such as Apache Kafka, RabbitMQ, ActiveMQ, etc.
• Experience in Reactive programming and event-driven architecture.
• Strong experience in cloud computing platforms like Amazon Web Services is preferred.
• Financial Services and/or Banking experience including Capital Markets exposure is preferred.

About the Company

Our Customer is a Leading bank in Australia that provides a front-to-back integrated platform for straight-through processing and risk management. This is a multi-year initiative where different projects run in concurrence under the program's variety of milestones. These streams include new product initiatives, new entity rollouts, and regulatory compliance. We will have key roles in projects such as managing the scope, design, and delivering the requirements from front to back office with DXC Luxoft.

This specific initiative consists of supporting the replacement of a front system Security Lending platform with a new vendor system. We are looking for talented and ambitious people. The roles are in the respective Functional, Test Management, Development, Test Support, Environment Management, and Release teams. These units will collectively undertake scoping, design, building, testing, and implementation phases to deliver a variety of program milestones.
