Senior Java Developer

Responsibilities

• Maintain, support, and enhance existing enterprise Java applications in a complex production environment.
• Analyze and troubleshoot application, database, and performance issues across multiple systems and environments.
• Develop scalable and maintainable solutions using Java, Hibernate, and SQL.
• Optimize application performance, database interactions, and system reliability.
• Support deployment, release management, and production support activities.
• Collaborate with business and technical stakeholders to deliver high-quality solutions.
• Participate in modernization, cloud transformation, and process improvement initiatives.
• Mentor team members and contribute to engineering best practices.

Requirements

Must Have

• 10-15+ years of software development experience in large-scale enterprise environments
• Strong Java development experience with deep understanding of multithreading, collections, concurrency, and performance optimization
• Advanced SQL skills with experience working on complex data models and production systems
• Proven, hands-on Hibernate expertise, including design, troubleshooting, performance tuning, and real-world implementation
• Ability to independently analyze, maintain, and enhance existing legacy applications and codebases
• Extensive experience working on large, business-critical enterprise applications
• Strong debugging and problem-solving skills across complex distributed systems
• Experience onboarding into existing applications and becoming productive with minimal ramp-up time
• Hands-on experience with application deployment processes and environment management
• Familiarity with access management, operational processes, and production support activities
• Ability to understand and navigate legacy code and architecture without extensive documentation
• Demonstrated track record of delivering in mature environments where understanding the existing estate is as important as developing new functionality

Nice to Have

• Experience with Python development
• Experience with JavaScript and React
• Exposure to cloud-native architectures and modernization initiatives
• Experience with CI/CD pipelines and DevOps practices
• Knowledge of containerization technologies (Docker/Kubernetes)
• Experience working within Financial Services or regulated environments
• Exposure to system migration, application modernization, or cloud transformation programmes
