Senior Java Developer

About the Position

We are seeking a Senior Java Developer with strong backend engineering skills to join our team in Bucharest, Romania. This role offers a rare combination of deep backend engineering, real open source contribution, and production grade scale.

Responsibilities

• Design, build, and evolve core backend components of the Fluxnova platform
• Contribute directly to an active open source project used by teams worldwide
• Collaborate with experienced engineers in a distributed, senior-level setup
• Improve scalability, reliability, and performance of workflow execution
• Review code, influence architecture decisions, and help set engineering standards
• Work close to real production use cases, not toy problems

Requirements

• Must have

  • Strong experience as a senior backend engineer
  • Solid Java expertise and hands-on experience with Spring Boot
  • Strong understanding of databases (SQL, persistence, transactions)
  • Experience with JavaScript-based web technologies (frontend or integration level)
  • Clean coding practices, design thinking, and ownership mindset

• Nice to have

  • Experience with Camunda 7 or BPM/workflow engines
  • Previous open source contributions (code, reviews, RFCs, maintenance)
  • Experience working in globally distributed engineering teams
  • Understanding of asynchronous processing and distributed systems
