Senior Kotlin Back-End Developer

About the Position

Join Imaginary Cloud as a Senior Kotlin Back-End Developer. Work remotely from Coimbra or Lisbon, Portugal, and contribute to impactful projects.

Responsibilities

• Design and develop scalable backend services using Kotlin.
• Architect and implement distributed systems and microservices.
• Work comfortably in cloud-native setups such as AWS and Kubernetes.
• Utilize relational databases like PostgreSQL.
• Implement testing frameworks such as JUnit and Testcontainers.
• Ensure reliable performance with observability tools like Grafana.

Requirements

• 5+ years of experience with a strong focus on Kotlin in server-side development.
• Hands-on experience designing distributed systems and microservices.
• Proficiency with relational databases (PostgreSQL).
• Experience with testing frameworks (JUnit, Testcontainers) and observability tools (Grafana).
• Fluency in English, both spoken and written.
• Willingness and legal qualification to live and work in Portugal.

Nice to Have

• Experience with Javascript (React.js, Angular.js, Vue.js, Node.js).
• Experience with C# /.Net, Ruby / Ruby on Rails, Python / Django.
• Knowledge of Git, SQL (MySQL, MS SQL Server), Mobile development (iOS, Android, React Native).
• Familiarity with Linux / Mac OS command line.
• Experience with automated provisioning tools (Docker, Ansible, Capistrano).
• Experience with Cloud & container orchestration (AWS, Kubernetes).
• Experience with NoSQL databases (Mongo, Redis, etc.).
• Experience with design tools like Photoshop or Figma.
