Senior (Lead) Cloud Data Engineer

About the Position

We are looking for a Senior (Lead) Cloud Data Engineer to join our Helsinki team. We are growing our Connectors & Data Factory team and opening multiple roles for both Senior and Lead levels of experience.

Responsibilities

• Build standard Azure Databricks solutions for our integration pipelines between customer solutions and Sievo cloud
• Own and improve ELT products built for extraction, transformation, and loading data to the Sievo's Procurement Data Schema
• Apply software engineering practices throughout: Git-based version control, CI/CD-style workflows, automated testing, and reproducible, production-quality code
• Proactively suggest and implement improvements to reduce manual work, increase testing, scalability, robustness, and availability of data systems
• Improve tooling used by data engineers to access, transform, and validate data
• Develop reproducible environments and cloud resources - permissions, deployment patterns, infrastructure-as-code, security, scalability, and cost efficiency
• Build common monitoring, data quality checks, and validations so that our data remains trustworthy and understandable
• Gather technical requirements from internal stakeholders, clearly communicate trade-offs, and work with the team to take deliverables through to production
• Troubleshoot platform and integration issues, fixing root causes rather than symptoms

Requirements

• Strong data engineering and ELT experience building maintainable data pipelines, also written in code rather than relying solely on managed cloud tooling
• Solid experience with cloud data technologies, preferably Databricks and Azure. Databricks on AWS counts as well
• SQL and Python skills for processing and moving large, complex datasets
• Software engineering practice: Git/version control, automated testing and clean, reproducible, maintainable code
• Ability to move between a wide, architectural perspective and small, technical details
• Hands-on experience and skills with agentic development
• Ability to take ownership and deliver as part of a product team - balancing independent work with close collaboration
• A growth mindset and a can-do attitude
• Communication skills, with the ability to gather requirements, explain technical trade-offs, and collaborate across teams

Nice to Have

• Background in backend software engineering
• Experience with building large-scale data platforms or data architectures
• Experience with procurement, ERP, or accounting data, or other complex enterprise data domains
• Experience with infrastructure-as-code and platform/environment ownership (permissions, security, scalability, monitoring, cost efficiency)

Compensation

• Senior Cloud Data Engineer: €5300 – €6500 per month
• Lead Cloud Data Engineer: €6200 – €7400 per month

We are open to discussing higher compensation for particularly senior profiles.
