About the Position
Ubisoft is a global leader in video games, with teams around the world creating original and memorable gaming experiences, from Assassin’s Creed to Rainbow Six, Just Dance, and more. We believe that diversity of perspectives drives progress for both players and teams. If you are passionate about innovation and want to push the boundaries of entertainment, join our adventure and help us create the unknown!
Based in Paris, you will join the legal team that supports our production studios worldwide, as a Senior Legal Counsel specializing in music.
Music is a key asset for Ubisoft! In this role, you will become the legal reference on all music-related topics for our games, whether it's licenses or synchronization, providing our creative teams with the means to use the best music while securing associated legal risks.
Responsibilities
- Negotiate and draft, in French and English, all music-related contracts-licenses, orders, distribution-with a wide range of external partners
- Advise production teams from both a strategic and operational perspective, making legal issues concrete
- Become the natural contact point for creative teams for any questions related to music content and provide practical and pragmatic advice
- Train creative teams worldwide to strengthen their legal reflexes and collaborate with other legal team members to build the necessary tools for operations
- Monitor regulatory changes and market trends, both in the music and video game industries, to anticipate their impact on production
- Ensure the compliance of our practices with our business needs, internal policies, and risk tolerance
- Contribute to the continuous improvement of contract models and legal processes
- Work closely with external law firms specializing in sensitive cases, upstream of potential litigation
Requirements
Experience Required
- Significant experience in music law, in the fields of music publishing and/or recorded music, ideally gained in a company
- Solid experience in drafting and negotiating music contracts under different jurisdictions, including synchronization licenses, and in relations with collective management societies
- Comfortable managing multiple projects in parallel, in an international and multicultural environment
Skills and Knowledge
- Bilingual French/English, equally comfortable writing and negotiating in both languages
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to make legal concepts accessible to non-lawyers
- Strong negotiation skills, with a win-win spirit and ease in dealing with ambiguous or unknown terrain
- Emotional intelligence and curiosity, combined with excellent judgment and the ability to bring together stakeholders from different professions
- Ability to balance process simplification and in-depth analysis, without excessive caution in the face of risk
We Offer
- Participation, company savings plan. Plus: 25 days of leave, 12 paid time off, 50% of the transportation pass covered, meal vouchers, good health insurance, and many Ubisoft benefits.
- Maternity leave of 20 weeks, paternity/co-parental leave of 7 weeks
- Our offices are in Saint Mandé (line 1, Saint Mandé stop), gym on site
