About the Position
Senior Marketing Manager – Built Environment Portfolio
Reports to: Marketing Director
Brands: Built Environment Brands (Planning Resource, Partnerships Bulletin, P3 Bulletin, DCP and COMPASS Online)
The Role
We are seeking a strategic, commercially savvy Senior Marketing Manager to lead the marketing efforts for our prestigious Built Environment brands. This portfolio sits at the intersection of policy, Planning News, Appeals, Infrastructure, and sustainability, featuring market-leading brands like Planning and DCP. Reporting directly to the Marketing Director, you will be responsible for defining the marketing strategy, driving high-value subscription growth, and managing a direct report to ensure flawless execution across the portfolio.
Responsibilities
Strategic Leadership & Revenue Growth
- Strategy Development: Create and oversee the annual marketing strategy for the portfolio, aligning with the Marketing Director’s vision to hit ambitious growth targets.
- Subscription Model Excellence: Optimise the customer lifecycle, from acquisition and lead generation to retention and renewal, within a high-value subscription framework.
- Commercial Drive: Partner with Sales and Editorial leads to identify new revenue streams, including bespoke reports, premium data tools, and events.
Brand & Market Positioning
- Resource Allocation: Manage the marketing budget for the portfolio, ensuring optimal spend across channels to achieve the highest possible ROI.
- Market Intelligence: Stay ahead of trends in the environmental and renewable sectors to ensure our brands remain the "must-have" resource for professionals.
- Multi-Brand Oversight: Maintain the distinct identity and value proposition of the portfolio, ensuring tailored messaging for private developers, Local authorities, and consultants within the sector.
Data & Optimisation
- Funnel Analysis: Utilise advanced analytics to track the marketing funnel, providing the Director with regular insights into performance and market penetration.
- Testing & Innovation: Lead a culture of testing (A/B testing, landing page optimisation) to constantly improve conversion rates.
Requirements
- Proven Track Record: Significant experience in a marketing role, ideally within B2B or a large-scale subscription model.
- Leadership Experience: Previously managed at least one direct report and know how to delegate effectively while maintaining high standards.
- Commercial Acumen: Motivated by numbers and have a clear understanding of how marketing activity translates into bottom-line revenue.
- Sector Interest: A passion for or understanding of the environmental, sustainability, or renewable energy landscape is highly desirable.
- Tech Stack: Expert-level knowledge of CRM (e.g., Salesforce), Marketing Automation, and Analytics tools.
