Senior Mobile Engineer

At Avenga, we believe that human creativity empowers technology that matters. Operating globally, our 6000+ specialists provide a full spectrum of services, including business and tech advisory, enterprise solutions, CX, UX and UI design, managed services, product development, and software development.

This is the job

In Argentina within the Industrial IoT & Mobile Solutions industry, we are actively seeking a Senior Mobile Engineer (Android Kotlin + React Native) to lead the end-to-end migration of the Optimus industrial app. Your mission will be to transform an existing native Android application into a highly resilient React Native solution, integrating secure AWS cloud features, IoT data streams, and robust offline-first capabilities for plant operations.

Responsibilities

  • Design and execute the mobile migration strategy from Android Kotlin to React Native utilizing a modular architecture (MVVM/Clean Architecture).
  • Extend shared data contracts and types within a Turborepo monorepo structure to keep cross-platform specifications unified.
  • Build resilient, offline-first operation screens for device monitoring, alerts, and synchronization to guarantee high performance in variable connectivity areas.
  • Consume APIs and streams from cloud environments (AWS API Gateway, Lambda) and IoT devices efficiently to preserve battery and minimize network latency.
  • Implement mobile hardening and token storage standards to satisfy industrial-level security and compliance.
  • Work in active shift-left coordination with QA, writing unit and integration tests, while participating in agile Scrum ceremonies.
  • Deliver clear documentation, architecture decision records (ADRs), contribution guidelines, and code handovers to the team.

Requirements

  • 3+ years of proven professional experience in native mobile development for Android using Kotlin.
  • Solid hands-on experience with React Native using TypeScript, hooks, React Navigation, and state management frameworks (Redux Toolkit, Zustand, or MobX).
  • Practical experience driving brownfield/strangler-fig migrations or modernizing legacy mobile apps.
  • Strong background in backend integration via REST APIs, JWT, and OAuth2/OIDC protocols (experience with AWS Cognito is a big plus).
  • Proficiency in offline-first engineering using local storage engines (SQLite, Realm, AsyncStorage, or MMKV) and data synchronization queues.
  • Experience setting up mobile CI/CD automation and build pipelines (Fastlane, GitHub Actions, Bitrise, or CircleCI), including code signing and distribution.
  • Solid testing practices utilizing Jest, React Native Testing Library, and optionally automated E2E tools like Detox or Appium.

Nice to Have

  • Familiarity with Industrial IoT architectures, MQTT, AWS IoT Core, Greengrass, or Edge computing.
  • Understanding of manufacturing KPIs and metrics such as OEE (Availability, Performance, Quality).
  • Experience writing native bridges (modules) and optimizing performance for industrial-grade Android devices.
  • Familiarity with monorepos powered by Turborepo or NX, and mobile observability stacks (Sentry, Crashlytics, CloudWatch).
  • Basic knowledge of security frameworks in industrial environments (OWASP MASVS, ISO 27001, or IEC 62443).

We Offer

  • Equal opportunities in recruitment, career development, and leadership.
  • A diverse and inclusive work environment.
  • A supportive team that values your contributions.
