About the Position

Senior Observability Architect IRC299209

GlobalLogic runs a mature observability and AIOps platform for a major healthcare technology client, and we are now expanding it into the European Union. This new EU instance must keep all telemetry and processing within EU borders to meet data-residency and GDPR obligations.

The platform today runs in public cloud, but a number of hospitals require it to run on-premises, inside their own data centres, where public cloud is not permitted. The architecture must therefore support both cloud and on-prem (hybrid) deployment from a single, consistent, portable foundation.

We are looking for a Senior Observability Architect to own the design and build-out of the EU platform, standing up the observability stack in EU regions, guaranteeing data sovereignty end-to-end, and laying the foundation for predictive and self-healing capabilities. This is a senior, hands-on architecture role with the opportunity to seed and grow an EU team.

Responsibilities

  • Design and stand up the EU observability platform (metrics, events, logs, traces) on AWS and Kubernetes, fully resident within EU regions.
  • Define a hybrid deployment model so the same stack runs both in public cloud and on-premises in hospital data centres - covering self-managed Kubernetes, on-prem object storage, and restricted or air-gapped networks - kept consistent through Helm / GitOps.
  • Own the data-residency and GDPR architecture: ensure telemetry, storage, and any AI/LLM processing of that telemetry never leaves the EU.
  • Build and operate the Grafana LGTM stack (Loki, Grafana, Tempo, Mimir) with Alloy / OpenTelemetry collection pipelines.
  • Integrate alerting and incident workflows (PagerDuty, ServiceNow).
  • Establish SRE practices: SLOs, alerting strategy, dynamic thresholds, anomaly detection, and dashboards.
  • Partner with the existing platform team to align architecture and reuse proven patterns, while meeting EU-specific constraints.
  • Drive the maturity roadmap from foundational monitoring toward predictive and prescriptive (self-healing) capabilities.
  • Make independent architecture decisions and help build out an EU team as the engagement scales.

Requirements

Must-have skills and experience

  • 7+ years in observability, SRE, or platform engineering, including time in an architect or lead capacity.
  • Deep hands-on experience with the Grafana observability stack - Grafana, Loki, Tempo, Mimir (or Prometheus / Thanos equivalents).
  • Strong OpenTelemetry experience; Grafana Alloy or equivalent telemetry collectors.
  • Production Kubernetes in both managed (EKS) and self-managed / on-prem form (e.g. vanilla Kubernetes, OpenShift, Rancher/RKE, k3s), plus solid AWS cloud experience.
  • Hands-on experience deploying and operating observability (or similar) platforms on-premises, not only in cloud - including on-prem object storage (e.g. MinIO, Ceph) and restricted / air-gapped environments.
  • Practical understanding of MELT / telemetry pipelines: metrics, events, logs, traces.
  • Demonstrated experience designing for data residency / data sovereignty, and working knowledge of GDPR as it applies to telemetry and PII.
  • Incident management tooling (PagerDuty, ServiceNow, or similar).
  • Infrastructure as Code (Terraform or similar).

Nice to have

  • AIOps: anomaly detection, predictive failure analysis, automated or guided remediation.
  • LLM-based observability tooling: RAG pipelines, MCP (Model Context Protocol) servers/clients, AI agents.
  • Experience running LLM inference under data-residency constraints (EU-resident endpoints / processing).
  • Building self-healing or autonomous remediation systems.
  • Healthcare / regulated-industry exposure (e.g. PACS, DICOM, HL7).
