Senior Performance Testing QA Engineer

About the Position

We are seeking a Senior Performance Testing QA Engineer with 7+ years of experience to join our Quality Engineering team in Bengaluru, India. The role involves designing and executing comprehensive performance testing strategies, analyzing system behavior under varying load conditions, and performing detailed log analysis to identify performance bottlenecks, latency issues, and service degradation. You will work closely with development, architecture, and DevOps teams to ensure application scalability, reliability, and optimal user experience.

Responsibilities

• Design, develop, and execute performance test plans covering load, stress, endurance, scalability, and volume testing scenarios.
• Create and maintain performance test scripts using Apache JMeter for both UI-based applications and APIs.
• Analyze application and infrastructure performance metrics to identify bottlenecks and performance risks.
• Evaluate system behavior under varying workload conditions and provide actionable recommendations for optimization.
• Prepare detailed performance test reports, dashboards, and analysis summaries for stakeholders.
• Collaborate with development and infrastructure teams to resolve performance issues and validate improvements.
• Establish performance baselines and define performance acceptance criteria.
• Perform in-depth analysis of application and system logs to identify functional and performance-related issues.
• Trace end-to-end business transactions using TraceId, SpanId, and distributed tracing mechanisms.
• Analyze logs to identify latency issues, failures, bottlenecks, service degradation, and error patterns.
• Correlate application logs, monitoring data, and performance test results to determine root causes.
• Work closely with developers, architects, and support teams to troubleshoot and resolve issues.
• Provide insights and recommendations to improve observability, monitoring, and application performance.

Requirements

• Performance Testing: Strong experience in planning, designing, executing, and analyzing performance tests for enterprise applications, including load, stress, endurance, and scalability testing.
• Apache JMeter: Hands-on expertise in developing, maintaining, and executing JMeter scripts for both web applications and API-based services.
• API & UI Performance Testing: Experience in validating performance characteristics of REST APIs, microservices, and UI-driven applications under varying workloads.
• Log Analysis: Proficiency in analyzing application and server logs to identify failures, latency issues, transaction bottlenecks, and service degradation.
• Distributed Tracing: Experience in tracing end-to-end transactions using TraceId, SpanId, and observability tools to diagnose performance issues across distributed systems.
• Performance Analysis & Root Cause Identification: Ability to correlate performance test results, system metrics, monitoring data, and logs to identify bottlenecks and recommend optimization strategies.
• SQL: Ability to write and execute SQL queries for data validation, performance analysis, and troubleshooting.
• Communication & Collaboration: Strong communication skills with the ability to work closely with developers, architects, DevOps, and business stakeholders to drive performance improvements.

Nice to Have

• Experience with Microservices Architecture
• Knowledge of Observability and Monitoring tools such as Grafana, Prometheus, Dynatrace, AppDynamics, New Relic, Splunk, or ELK Stack
• Experience with Distributed Systems Performance Testing
• Understanding of Cloud Platforms (AWS, Azure, or GCP)
• CI/CD integration of performance tests using Jenkins, GitHub Actions, or Azure DevOps
• Knowledge of Kubernetes and Docker
• Experience with Performance Engineering practices and Shift-Left Performance Testing
• Exposure to APM tools and infrastructure monitoring
• Certification in performance testing
