Job description
About the Position
We are currently looking for a Senior Process Engineer to join the team in Eindhoven.
Do you want to contribute to improve people's lives by developing breakthrough technologies in the industry of medical and wearable devices?
As a Senior Process Engineer, you will work on ultra-thin, flexible, stretchable, and low-cost electronic devices. You will be part of a spin-off that operates at the intersection of materials science, process technology, and microelectronics.
Translating innovative concepts into robust and scalable production process solutions in close collaboration with industry, medical, and defense clients is another key element of your function.
Responsibilities
As Senior Process Engineer, you are responsible for developing, optimizing, and integrating production processes for next-generation printed and hybrid electronic devices. You work in a multidisciplinary team and play a leading role in collaborative projects with international industrial partners. Your work contributes to turning advanced research into practical upscaling, manufacturing techniques, and processes.
Key responsibilities include:
- Developing and optimizing printing, interconnecting, and assembly processes, next to Quality Control procedures, for advanced printed electronics devices.
- Enabling hybrid integration of printed functionality with conventional components such as chips, piezo material, and LEDs, while maintaining device thinness and flexibility.
- Applying your expertise in materials, processes, and device design to solve complex upscaling and manufacturing challenges, including manufacturing infrastructure and/or equipment and tooling design.
- Taking technical manufacturing process responsibility in collaboration with international industrial and research partners.
- Interacting closely with customers and partners, aligning technical and operational progress with developing project and business objectives.
- Analyzing experimental and manufacturing data, drawing conclusions, and clearly communicating results to both internal and external stakeholders. Identifying potential bottlenecks and obstacles, searching and suggesting solutions and implementation to meet developing manufacturing volume targets.
- Contributing to knowledge building, best practices, and technology roadmaps within the printed electronics domain.
- Acting as a senior technical and operational reference and sparring partner within the team.
- Possibility and ability to grow into an Operational Management team role with possible people management responsibilities in the technology Spin-off.
Requirements
- A BSc degree in mechanical engineering, electrical engineering, materials science, or a related field.
- 5+ years of experience in microelectronics manufacturing, operational or related process engineering environments.
- Experience with printed electronics is a strong plus.
- A hands-on mentality, with the ability to organize and execute practical work in an efficient and cooperative manner.
- Strong skills in data processing, analysis, interpretation, and the ability to clearly communicate results.
- Experience working in collaborative projects with industrial partners or customers.
- Excellent communication skills in English.
- A proactive, structured, and solution-oriented mindset, with the ability to take ownership and lead technical challenges.
- In case of joining the spin-off, the ability to perform in a less structured, financial constrained, and high stress/high reward environment.
- In case of joining the spin-off, being one of the first team members, the ability to work in a “company in progress” with the necessary relativity, positivism, good sense of humor. You do not mind stepping up and to get your hands dirty, especially when deadlines could get crazy at times.
We Offer
- Opportunity to work on cutting-edge technologies in the medical and wearable devices industry.
- Collaborative and multidisciplinary work environment.
- Potential for career growth and advancement within the technology spin-off.
