Job description
About the Position
Senior Product Data Analyst - Consumer Growth
About the Team
SumUp is best known for helping small businesses get paid. Our Consumer tribe builds the other half of that story. We make SumUp Consumer, the wallet app that lets everyday consumers pay SumUp merchants with a tap, send money to friends, track their spending, and earn loyalty rewards along the way.
As we grow SumUp Consumer across new markets and features, we need sharp, reliable insight into how people discover, adopt, and use the product-and how that behavior translates.
If you want to be the person leadership turns to for an honest read of the business, and to see your analysis change real product and commercial decisions, this role is for you.
Responsibilities
-
Shape Commercial Decisions
- Own the SumUp Consumer KPI framework end to end-defining which metrics matter, how they're measured, and how they connect customer behavior to commercial outcomes.
- Evaluate the quality of our growth: CAC, source attribution, channel performance, and downstream customer value, separating headline growth from sustainable growth.
- Work with Risk and Anti-Fraud so fraud, abuse, and economic loss are built into how we judge customers, channels, and markets.
-
Drive Product Decisions
- Diagnose where customers drop out between acquisition and activation, and which behaviors drive repeat usage, retention, and lifetime value.
- Design and analyze A/B tests and product experiments, assessing both customer and commercial impact.
- Help Product Managers size opportunities and judge whether shipped features delivered the outcomes they promised.
-
Influence with Data
- Act as an independent analytical partner to Consumer leadership and to Product, Growth, Finance, and Risk-proactively surfacing trends, risks, and opportunities rather than waiting for requests.
- Build trusted reporting and help teams self-serve routine questions, so your time goes on the problems that matter most.
- Use AI and LLM-assisted techniques to speed up analysis, customer understanding, and insight generation.
Requirements
- You form your own view of why something happened and what the business should do about it-not just report what happened.
- You've influenced senior stakeholders with data, including changing a decision or overturning a long-held assumption.
- You understand the economics of a digital consumer product: acquisition, activation, retention, churn, customer lifetime value, and unit economics.
- You're fluent in product analytics-funnel, cohort, segmentation, and behavioral analysis.
- You have strong SQL and are comfortable querying, analyzing, and validating data in a cloud data warehouse such as Snowflake, BigQuery, or similar.
- You use a visualization tool such as Tableau, Looker, or Power BI to build reporting that stakeholders actually rely on.
- You turn ambiguous questions into structured analysis and tell a clear, concise story to technical and non-technical audiences alike.
- You prioritize by business impact and are comfortable managing several stakeholders and workstreams at once.
Nice to Have
- Experience in consumer fintech, banking, payments, or financial services.
- Growth or marketing analytics experience, including attribution, CAC, and channel performance (e.g., AppsFlyer, Google Analytics).
- Experience modeling customer lifetime value or unit economics.
- Experience partnering with fraud, abuse, or risk teams.
- Depth in experimentation design and the statistics behind it.
- Familiarity with dbt or experience working alongside Analytics Engineers.
- Python or R for advanced analysis.
We Offer
- Opportunity to work with a truly global, multicultural team from our central London Bridge location, wrapped in historic charm and modern flair.
- Commitment to Diversity and Inclusion: be part of a workplace that values and promotes diversity, fostering an inclusive environment where everyone's perspectives are respected and embraced.
- Enrolment onto our Virtual Stock Option programme: you will own a stake in SumUp's future success.
- Generous time off: enjoy 28 days of paid leave, plus bank holidays and special leaves.
- A dedicated annual L&D budget for attending conferences and/or advancing your career through further education.
- Health matters: private health insurance, including optical and dental.
- Life made easier: salary-sacrifice commuter benefits via Gogeta.
- Financial security: retirement scheme (SumUp matches 7% when you contribute 5%).
- Peace of mind: life insurance from MetLife for 2× your salary.
- Break4me: 1-month sabbatical after 3 years of service.
- Referral Bonus: earn additional rewards by referring talented individuals to join the SumUp team.
