Senior Python Software Engineer (Test Systems)

We are looking for a Senior Python Software Engineer to join the R&D team of one of our partners. The main focus of the role is the development of backend solutions in Python for testing and reporting systems. The specialist will work with test stands, dev boards, and other test equipment, creating solutions for testing various company products.

Responsibilities

• Designing and developing backend services for internal engineering infrastructure (Django/DRF, FastAPI): storage of firmware artifacts, test results, API for CI/CD – along with database schema design
• Developing cross-platform desktop applications on PySide6/PyQt6: real-time telemetry, equipment control, graph generation, report generation
• Writing and maintaining Python services for automated testing with hardware integration via USB/UART/I²C/SCPI
• Automating engineering processes: processing logs and measurement data, service CLI utilities, report generation, working with Git repositories
• Integrating checks and tests into CI/CD pipelines (Bitbucket Pipelines, GitHub Actions), packaging in Docker, deploying and maintaining services (On-premises / AWS / GCP)
• Supporting code quality standards: Code Review, unit/integration tests (pytest), typing, technical documentation
• Collaborating with firmware, hardware, and QA engineers during requirements gathering and solution implementation

Requirements

• 5+ years of commercial experience in Python development (3.12+): OOP and design patterns, typing, multiprocessing/threading/asyncio, understanding of non-blocking I/O
• Django + DRF: models, migrations, ORM, REST API, authentication
• FastAPI: asynchronous APIs, Pydantic models, WebSocket, background tasks
• PySide6 or PyQt6: signals/slots, working with UI outside the main thread, Qt Designer, QML
• SQL (PostgreSQL): schema design, indexes, transactions, query optimization, efficient ORM operation without N+1
• Practical experience with AWS or GCP, setting up CI/CD in GitHub Actions or Bitbucket Pipelines
• Docker and docker-compose
• Linux: command line, systemd, bash scripting, working via SSH
• Git: branching, rebase, conflict resolution, pull request workflow
• pytest: writing tests, fixtures, mocks
• English at the level of reading technical documentation

Nice to Have

• Experience in automating hardware testing, Robot Framework, or similar frameworks
• Working with serial interfaces: pyserial, pyusb, Modbus, CAN
• Basic understanding of embedded systems: STM32, firmware, JTAG/SWD, OpenOCD/J-Link; Raspberry Pi, Jetson, embedded Linux
• C/C++
• Processing and visualizing measurement data (numpy, pandas)
• Experience with AI agents for development (Claude Code, Cursor, etc.): writing specifications and context files, reviewing generated code, integrating agents into the workflow
• Redis / RabbitMQ, Celery for task queues and background processes
• Infrastructure as Code (Terraform, Ansible), Prometheus / Grafana / Loki
• Experience in mentoring or technical leadership in a small team
