Senior Quality Engineer (JavaScript, Playwright)

About the Position

We are seeking a Senior Quality Engineer with expertise in JavaScript and Playwright to join our team in Ukraine, focusing on web platform quality strategy and automation.

Responsibilities

• Design and own end-to-end automation strategy using Playwright and JavaScript
• Define automation architecture, patterns, and best practices
• Ensure scalable, maintainable, and performant test suites
• Drive adoption of shift-left testing practices and establish quality gates within CI/CD pipelines
• Implement and oversee UI, API, and integration tests
• Design test strategies for complex user journeys and integrations
• Handle test data management and environment orchestration
• Ensure coverage of non-functional requirements (reliability, usability, performance awareness)
• Lead code reviews for test automation code, eliminate flaky tests, and improve test execution reliability
• Drive observability and reporting of test results
• Partner with developers on testability and design-for-quality; mentor mid-level and junior Quality Engineers
• Act as the quality authority within the team, influence platform and architectural decisions, and promote quality ownership across teams
• Partner with Product, Engineering, and Delivery leaders on release readiness
• Identify quality risks early, propose mitigation strategies, support production issues and root-cause analysis, and continuously improve quality processes and tooling

Requirements

• 3+ years of experience in Quality Engineering or Test Automation
• Proven experience acting as a Senior QE or Automation Lead
• Hands-on expertise in Playwright at scale and Selenium
• Advanced proficiency in JavaScript
• Understanding of frontend and backend architectures
• Background in testing REST APIs
• Deep experience integrating automation into CI/CD pipelines
• Solid knowledge of test architecture, test data, and environment management
• Skills in communication and stakeholder management
• Familiarity with complex, enterprise-scale platforms
• Excellent command of written and spoken English (B2+ level)

Nice to Have

• Knowledge of Apache JMeter
• Familiarity with Cypress
