Job Description, Responsibilities & Requirements

About the Position

We are looking for a Senior Sales Manager to grow strategic and key customer relationships within Tieto’s R&D and Smart Products business. This role involves clear commercial responsibility, where you will build long-term relationships with both existing and new customers, create a qualified pipeline, win new business, and expand selected accounts.

The role is focused on customers with significant product development needs, especially in areas such as audio, automotive, connected devices, and other product-centric industries. You will help customers accelerate product and feature development through AI-enabled engineering, product development services, and Tieto’s broader technology capabilities.

Responsibilities

  • Build and grow long-term relationships with selected strategic and growth customers.
  • Drive both new business and expansion of existing accounts, with clear revenue and sales targets.
  • Create, manage, and convert a strong and qualified sales pipeline.
  • Lead complex sales dialogues and negotiations with senior stakeholders across business, engineering, and procurement.
  • Identify customer needs and shape tailored solutions together with delivery teams, architects, and technical experts.
  • Drive account development beyond traditional time-and-material sales towards more value-driven and scalable engagements.
  • Use AI to enhance sales activities such as customer research, prospecting, account planning, and opportunity development.
  • Maintain strong sales discipline through structured follow-up, pipeline management, and forecasting.

Requirements

  • 6-8+ years of experience in B2B sales, account management, or similar commercial roles.
  • Proven experience in consultative selling.
  • Experience from technology, software, engineering, R&D, product development, or consulting-related sales.
  • Ability to manage complex B2B sales cycles and build trust with stakeholders at different levels, from line managers to senior decision-makers.
  • Strong commercial drive, ownership mindset, and ability to create momentum and close business.
  • Interest in or hands-on experience with AI in sales, or confidence discussing AI-enabled offerings with customers.
  • Fluent business English.

Nice to Have

  • Experience from embedded software, automotive, telecom, audio, connected products, or similar industries.
  • Understanding of how product development, engineering services, and consulting business models work.
  • Experience working across international markets and distributed teams.
  • Existing network in relevant customer or industry environments.
