Senior Smallworld GIS Developer (PNI)

About the Position

Astec IT Services, a company that has been delivering digital innovation in the automotive, energy, and telecom sectors since 1993, is looking for a Senior Smallworld GIS Developer (PNI) to support ongoing development efforts in FTTH network projects for a leading European telecommunications company.

Responsibilities

As a Senior Smallworld GIS Developer (PNI) on the Telecommunications team at Astec IT Services, you will:

• Develop GIS applications supporting FTTH network development
• Provide software development and 3rd level support using agile methodologies
• Analyze requirements, create concepts, and discuss them with the client
• Monitor code quality and perform code reviews
• Design, implement, and execute development and integration tests
• Prepare documentation in English
• Facilitate technical knowledge transfer and communication within project teams
• Participate in regular client meetings

Requirements

• At least 5 years of experience in a similar role
• Experience with Smallworld Physical Network Inventory (PNI) and Magik development
• Extensive experience in the analysis and development of complex software applications
• Experience with agile methods in software development
• Knowledge of change management and configuration management tools and processes
• Ability to work with other teams of professionals
• Ability to confidently communicate with clients
• Good knowledge of English language (level B2 or better)

Nice to Have

• Knowledge about FTTH concepts
• Knowledge of Oracle, web application servers such as Apache Tomcat, and Java
• Experience with line technology in telecommunications
• GE Smallworld GIS certifications
• Familiarity with Scaled Agile Framework (SAFe)

• Team: 7 Developers, 1 Product Owner, 1 Scrum Master
