About the Position
Senior Software Engineer
Pockit and Monese are the all-in-one money apps that make it easy for people to access and manage the financial tools that put them in control of their money. We provide vital financial services, from e-money accounts through to income advance products to over three million customers across the UK and Europe. In October 2024, Pockit acquired Monese, creating the leading fintech for anyone who is budgeting, saving, or just trying to stay on top of their finances. Both firms are regulated by the FCA.
Following the acquisition of Monese, the business is on a trajectory of growth as the two organisations harmonise and integrate in both the UK and across Europe.
Responsibilities
- Architect and build reliable and scalable cloud-native services on an AWS stack.
- Own your services end-to-end, from conception to production monitoring.
- Focus on building great products, not just coding excellence.
- Work closely with product, domain and data experts and to shape solutions.
- Fine tune performance and cloud costs within a distributed systems architecture.
Requirements
- Excellent Java and Spring Boot skills.
- Experience with distributed services on a modern stack, including: Kubernetes, Docker, Kafka, Redis, PostgreSQL or equivalent.
- Test-driven development practices.
- A product-focused engineering mindset.
- Good foundations in the design of clear and robust APIs.
- Able to take charge of your time and prioritise in a fast-paced environment.
- You value working in a DevOps engineering culture.
- You are excited about building something truly meaningful in the financial sector.
Nice to Have
- Have previous financial systems integration experience.
- Full-stack exposure.
- Advanced hands-on experience with AWS and best practices, e.g. Well-Architected Framework.
- Database management skills: scaling, performance management or capacity planning on PostgreSQL.
