Microsoft’s Azure Data engineering team is leading the transformation of analytics in the world of data with products like databases, data integration, big data analytics, messaging & real-time analytics, and business intelligence. Within Azure Data, the Azure Data Analytics team builds the core analytics experiences in Microsoft Fabric. We own the Data Warehouse, Data Engineering, Data Science, AI, and Power BI workloads, enabling customers to ingest, transform, analyze, and derive insights from structured, semi-structured, and unstructured data at enterprise scale. Our team is at the center of Microsoft's strategy to deliver a seamless, end-to-end analytics experience in Fabric.

The Fabric Data Engineering Experience & Infrastructure team is hiring a Senior Software Engineer to help build the world's best Data Engineering and Data Science platform. You will help implement advanced capabilities designed to help Data Engineers and Data Scientists achieve more through Microsoft Fabric.

Responsibilities

• Design and develop exceptional experience for new big data cloud offering.
• Plan, schedule, and deliver quality software incrementally.
• Review changes to product codebase and provide constructive feedback that aligns with industry best practices.
• Maintain and operate cloud online services.
• Passion and experience for building great developer experience and user experience of modern analytics systems.
• Deep desire to work collaboratively, solve problems with teams across the world, and celebrate successes.

Requirements

Required Qualifications:

• Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science or related technical field AND 4+ years of technical engineering experience with coding in languages including, but not limited to, C, C++, C#, Java, JavaScript, or Python
  • OR equivalent experience.

Other Requirements:

• Ability to meet Microsoft, customer, and/or government security screening requirements are required for this role. These requirements include, but are not limited to the following specialized security screenings: Microsoft Cloud Background Check:
  • This position will be required to pass the Microsoft Cloud background check upon hire/transfer and every two years thereafter.

Preferred Qualifications:

• 5+ years of programming experience in service/backend.
• Software development experience building scalable, distributed services using C# or other high-level languages.
• Software development experience with multi-threaded/parallel programming.
• Software development experience on service fabric or Kubernetes.
• Experience with open-source components like Spark as a plus.
• Experience with Azure/AWS/Google Cloud Compute/Storage/Network resource provisioning & management as a plus.

• Competitive salary range: USD $119,800 - $261,000 per year.
