About the Position

Senior Software Engineer - AI Enablement HR

Kraken, a global crypto platform serving over 10 million individuals and institutions, is seeking a Senior Software Engineer - AI Enablement HR to join our People team. This role is pivotal in rebuilding core HR infrastructure systems with AI at the core, including hiring, onboarding, learning, and rewards workflows.

Responsibilities

Design and deploy AI-powered HR solutions:

• Architect and build agentic workflows using n8n, Claude API, Python, and MCP for HR processes with human oversight.
• Build multi-agent systems connecting HR tools (HRIS, ATS, payroll, ticketing) into end-to-end workflows.
• Implement error handling, audit trails, payroll-calendar awareness, and human-in-the-loop checkpoints before deployment.
• Ensure automations comply with employee PII, regulated data, and privacy obligations.

Own governance and risk for People AI systems:

• Classify automation builds by risk tier prior to development.
• Maintain audit logging and documentation for systems handling regulated employee data.
• Halt or redesign builds posing legal, payroll, or privacy risks, securing organizational acceptance.
• Serve as HRKX domain representative for governance standards and build alignment.

Multiply the People team's capability:

• Produce documentation, workflow templates, and runbooks for HR professionals to use independently.
• Train People team members on AI-assisted tools and workflows to drive adoption.
• Track and report automation impact metrics.
• Enable HR professionals to focus on strategic advisory tasks through AI enablement.

Requirements

• 5+ years software engineering experience with 2+ years building AI/ML-powered applications or agentic systems in production.
• 2–3+ years working on HR, People Operations, or people technology problems.
• Fluency with AI and workflow automation tools, and experience designing, deploying, and driving adoption of AI within HR workflows.
• Hands-on experience designing and deploying production AI-powered or automated workflows.
• Deep knowledge of Workday, including job change workflows, worker conversions, EIB data uploads, integration architecture, and payroll dependencies.
• Systems thinker with a strong implementation mindset for end-to-end delivery.
• Proficiency with AI tooling stack: n8n, Python, Claude API/Anthropic SDK, with required experience connecting HR systems via API.
• Strong analytical problem-solving skills for structuring ambiguous people questions into automated analysis.
• Solid understanding of employee data classification, PII handling, and cross-jurisdictional HR compliance.
