Senior Software Engineer, Backend (Card Acquisition)

About the Position

Affirm is reinventing credit to make it more honest and friendly, giving consumers the flexibility to buy now and pay later without any hidden fees or compounding interest. We are seeking a Senior Software Engineer, Backend (Card Acquisition) to join our team in Poland, working remotely.

Responsibilities

• Own and deliver quarterly goals for your team, leading engineers through ambiguity to solve open-ended problems, and ensuring support throughout delivery.
• Collaborate with product management, design, and analytics to support the product development lifecycle, participating in ideation, articulating technical constraints, and partnering on decisions.
• Proactively identify and solve project, process, technology, or business issues.
• Ensure your team’s operations and availability by implementing the right monitoring, triage rotations, playbooks, policies, testing, and alerting.
• Foster a culture of quality and ownership by setting or improving code review and design standards, and advocating for them beyond your team.
• Develop talent on your team by providing feedback and guidance, and leading by example.
• Participate in an on-call rotation as required.

Requirements

• 4+ years of experience designing, developing, and launching backend systems at scale using languages like Python or Kotlin.
• Experience developing highly available distributed systems using technologies like AWS, MySQL, and Kubernetes.
• Proven track record of defining a technical plan for the delivery of significant features or system components with an elegant, simple, and extensible design.
• Proficiency in making significant changes in a large code base, and experience developing tools and practices that enable safe changes.
• Demonstrated ownership of your growth, with a proactive approach to seeking feedback from your team, manager, and stakeholders.
• Strong verbal and written communication skills to support effective collaboration with our global engineering team.
• Either equivalent practical experience or a Bachelor’s degree in a related field.

We Offer

• Base Pay: 308,000 zł - 428,000 zł per year.
• Equity: Awarded in US Dollars with an example equity grade of 4, including new hire equity ($32,000-$48,000), annual refresh ($10,000), and reward equity ($0-$150,000).
