Senior Software Engineer, Backend (Identity International)

About the Position

Affirm is reinventing credit to make it more honest and friendly, giving consumers the flexibility to buy now and pay later without any hidden fees or compounding interest. Our Identity team is mission-critical to the customer checkout experience. We are responsible for KYC, user lifecycle management, and identity decisioning across multiple regulatory environments. We are looking for a Senior Software Engineer who can turn ambiguous business and customer problems into reliable, well-designed technical solutions.

Responsibilities

• Own and deliver quarterly goals for your team.
• Lead engineers on your team through ambiguity to solve open-ended problems.
• Support peers and stakeholders in the product development lifecycle.
• Proactively identify and solve project, process, technology, or business issues.
• Support the operations and availability of your team’s artifacts.
• Foster a culture of quality and ownership on your team.
• Help develop talent on your team by providing feedback and guidance.

Requirements

• 4+ years of experience designing, developing, and launching backend systems at scale using languages like Python or Kotlin.
• Experience developing highly available distributed systems using technologies like AWS, MySQL, and Kubernetes.
• Experience defining a technical plan for the delivery of a significant feature or system component.
• Proficiency at making significant changes in a large code base.
• Strong verbal and written communication skills.
